Shopping with kids can be fun and fuss- it depends how you mould it!
Most of the time parents don’t like taking their kids along for shopping as they find it troublesome. By doing this you are depriving your kid from having a great learning experience.
These two activities can help you in making your kids smart shoppers and developing sense of money and food costing.
1-SHOPPING GROCERY-
Prepare a shopping list with your kid. Explain to him how important is to make a list before going out for shopping as it helps saving money and how it minimizes impulse buying. It can be a good practise for reading and writing. While you go for shopping ask your kid to find some item, he will get busy and when he finds out and puts it into cart ask him to check off from your list.
2-FOOD AND MONEY-
Shopping grocery from store can be a fun activity. When you return back from shopping while settling your grocery in store ask your child to find the items you bought and ask him to read the price also. In this way he will come to know about the food the family uses and the price too.
Have fun while shopping!

Social networking can do wonders if used positively!
Hats off to womenfolk of Dallas who are being termed as dollar wise who have used this tool to form groups for their kids and organize camping and other activities in low cost. I am really amazed that how these moms got together and planned a group for their kids. I strongly believe in the saying where there is will there is way. Mothers want so many things for their kids but at times are not able to get or organize due to certain reasons. Its very necessary for the child to participate in outdoor activities and games. Interaction with other kids help him in learning new things, and developing social skills.

CAMPING FUN
Group activities can be beneficial for stay at home moms to keep them active and use their skills in different way. They themselves can take benefit by making new friends in the group, then they can teach kids group some new activity or skill which they know very well like dance, arts, craft and so many other activities. Kids will definitely enjoy and will have loads of fun. In today’s times when there are nuclear families and kids are staying alone then such activities can fill their life with love, happiness, enthusiasm, and positive energy.
Its time to take step womenfolk, lets get active for our kids sake because they are angels in our life!

Communication plays a key role in creating desirable behaviour in our kids!
The ability to communicate with others, to share experience, to collaborate, and to exchange information is very important in today’s times. To achieve it parents have to start setting the base since childhood by having positive communication most of the time. Always think of mistakes as experiments rather that failures. Whenever your kid makes some mistake don’t react, or shout, just try to create a positive environment. This act of yours will teach him how to handle your anger. You have to express your anger in words rather than in action. Words doesn’t mean you have to shout or yell, softly you have to make him aware that why you are upset. There are many ways to control your anger. Counting numbers, moving to some other place at that moment only, drinking water, and many more. Follow any habit but definitely do it. Most of the parenting books emphasize on th importance of communication in parenting.
One book I came across explains that one of the biggest misconceptions we suffer from is the assumption that all human beings use the same process of understanding. Every individual has different set pattern of thinking and understanding. We Have to understand that aspect of our kid while dealing with him or her. While communicating also we have to make him understand what is the appropriate behaviour in simple words. Don’t make the situation complex by acting as cops- “you should do this” ,”yous should not speak loudly”, “don’t go there”…etc. It takes extra effort to explain him the consequences softly and with patience. Invest time in communicating with your kid. Try to understand his choices, his dislikes, why he said something wrong, what was his motive behind some particular wrong action. You will be amazed to see that how much he wants to share with you now.
At times we also make mistakes. Sometimes we scold our kid for wrong reasons, or by mistake we say something wrong, always say sorry. Never think being a parent you can take your position for granted. Always say sorry and see how easy it will be for your child to say sorry. There are many small talks during whole day which can create a huge positive impact on your child personality.
Happy Parenting!

It was a pleasure to attend a racial harmony community event in Singapore!
I was amazed to realize that this was an excellent platform for women from different races of society to intermingle with each other and get to know more about each other. Event was open to residents but what I consider is that womenfolk have always much more to share with each other than men. The event was named as” We are one family-A Racial Harmony celebration” in conjunction with Pungool Central Ministerial Community visit of Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for law and second minister for home affair. The focus of the event was to discuss how to integrate new immigrants into Singapore society?
In any new country immigrants take time to become the part of the society. Minister Shanmugam mentioned that all three parties are important-Singaporeans who have to be welcoming; new immigrants who have to adapt new culture; and the government which has to provide a framework for people to bond. Every party has to perform their role properly to achieve the desired results.
The crowd in the event was itself reflecting that people are interested to bond which each other. Its always good to meet new people, to interact, participate in activities together, and benefit each other by exchange of knowledge. So more events should be planned out to increase the participation and interaction level of different races of the society. I really appreciate the efforts which Government puts to integrate and help immigrants settling down in an alien country.
There were different performances by Fillipino, Indian, Malay and Chinese groups. Major attraction was performance by kids. Children should be exposed to such events which will help them to mingle with different people , of not only of their race but of different races and then they will have understanding of the concept of unity in diversity since their childhood!

Nurturing a child, to parenting a kid, managing a rebel teenager to guiding your adult kid on the right track- all phases of being a parent has its own challanges!
Kids as young as 3 to 6 years old age are at such stage that their building blocks are being set at the base. Whatever you will teach them at this stage will become a part of that base and in long run will help in strengthening the base. So why not guide them about different character building blocks since their childhood.
Teamwork is one such concept which is difficult to teach when they grow up. These two activities which I am sharing today are surely going to teach them the basics of teamwork -
1-STORY BUILDING CONCEPT-
Story making is such an activity which every kid enjoys and if it is done with a team of kids then they really have fun and learning concept together. Decide on a topic and take turns adding one sentence at a time. You can further ask questions to the team to develop new characters . You can use props also which will help in emerging of a character. This is a very good way to improve language skills of your kid and besides that it helps him to have flow of ideas within him and exchange of ideas within the team help in building teamwork concept.
2-Saving our resources-
This is a nice way to teach kids about different ways through which we can conserve resources.First of all we have to explain them the concept of electricity that how electricity flows through different equipments of the house. Then we have to explain to them why we have to save electricity and different ways of doing it.Turning off the lights, turning off radios and television when not in use, adjusting the heat and and airconditioning- there are so many ways to conserve our resources. The need is to take action. This effort should be made compulsory for the whole family as a team together which will help your kid understanding the importance of the work done.
