Activities for kids!Part 8

Published by Charu M under Parenting

Kids grow up fast and there are so many things and habits which we want them to develop!

Responsiblity and promotion of daily good habits are two of the most important one. These activities will kids to be personally more responsible and how  to develop personal good hygine-

1.BEING RESPONSIBLE-

This activity is interaction based. Talk with your kid about what happens when people don’t do what they are responsible to do. For example if plants that don’t get watered wilt, garbage smells if not taken outside, animals and children that don’t get food get hungry. Discuss with them is it fair to expect others to do our work. Decide together on the tasks of each family member. Should people be able to do only things they like. If your child is not agreeing to perform the assigned task then discuss the consequences ifparents are not working or they don’t prepare meal. Give him variety of real life examples so that he can really understand the importance of the asigned task.

2.PROMOTION OF DAILY GOOD HABITS-

Take a chart and with help of your child write two headings on the top.”Friends of teeth”, “enemies of teeth”. List all good things you can do for your teeth under Friends of teeth, . Under enemies of teeth include the danger signals of bleeding, swollen gums, a hole in the tooth, sensitivity to hot and cold water. Talk about what hurts teeth like hard candy, not brushing at bed time, using teeth as bottle openers, . Post the chart where children brush thier teeth as a reminder of good health habits.

The Art of Remembering and Interpreting Dreams

Published by Charu M under Guest Coloumn

Shakun Narang wants to share this interesting article with womenlines readers-

At different times in my life, I am a physician, a teacher, a friend and an author, but being a dreamer is what I value the most.

World of Dreams

World of Dreams

Whatever I am doing, I always hear my dreams echoing in a distant underground chamber beneath my thoughts and feelings, attuned to the rhythms of my body and the very substance of the earth. They are my compass and my truth; they guide me and link me to the Divine. They call out to me in an intimate whisper, always knowing how to find me. They speak my real name.

For me, dreaming is a direct line to a place where magic abounds and nothing is without meaning. It is a pristine state of awareness, unpolluted and clear. Direct guidance for healing lies in our dreams, the natural territory of intuition. Here, time and space are non-existent and anything is possible. Like a blank, white canvas, our dream world is a spacious medium where intuition can freely express itself. We have only to listen.

You are in partnership with your dreams. Initiate an ongoing dialogue with them. It’s like consulting the wisest doctor you can imagine who knows you inside out. You can ask your dreams anything. No question is trivial if it is meaningful to you. Expect answers. Some will be direct. Others may require interpretation.

Your dreams can reveal many truths about your life. They can provide extraordinary intuitive insights, and give you information that can help your health, love life and career. You’d be surprised at the straightforward advice that your dreams give, either spontaneously or on request.

Dreams can keep you well. Dreams provide answers. But first you must retrieve them. Here are my four strategies to help you remember your dreams:

  • Keep a journal and pen by your bed.
  • Write a question on a piece of paper before you go to sleep. Formalize your request. Place it on a table beside your bed or under your pillow.
  • In the morning do not wake up too fast. Stay under the covers for at least a few minutes remembering your dream. Luxuriate in a peaceful feeling between sleep and waking, what scientists call the hypnagogic state. Those initial moments provide a doorway.
  • Open your eyes. Write down your dream immediately; otherwise it will evaporate. You may recall a face, object, color, or scenario, feel an emotion. It doesn’t matter if it makes perfect sense-or if you retrieve a single image or many. Record everything you remember.

When you’re finished, refocus on the question you asked the previous night. See how your dream applies. One, two, or more impressions about the who/what/where of your solution may have surfaced. Get in the habit of recording your dreams regularly. Be assured I’ve never met anyone who can’t be taught how to remember. Keep at it. Remember to practice. Soon it will become second nature to you!

In addition to the practical aspects of remembering dreams, there’s an intuitive level to understanding dreams. Reliable intuitive information stands out in very specific ways. Watch for these clues:

  • Statements that simply convey information
  • Neutral segments that evoke or convey no emotion
  • A detached feeling, like you’re a witness watching a scene
  • A voice or person counseling you, as if you’re taking dictation from an outside source
  • Conversations with people you never met before who give instructions.

I’ve found that my most dead-on intuitions either come across as compassionate or have no emotion at all. Develop a careful eye as you practice separating the content of your dreams from your reactions to it. Soon you’ll be able to tell the difference between unreliable guidance and truly reliable guidance.

Be aware that your dreams go by different rules than your waking life. Get ready for a mind shift. Physical laws no longer apply. Gravity changes. In dreams you can fly!

Rendezvous with Immigrants!

Published by Charu M under Woman issues

Kudos  to members of  Women Executive Committee (WEC)  Sengkang, Singapore for organizing a   fun filled Tea party for Immigrants in the neighbourhood area of Sengkang!

WE ARE ONE!

WE ARE ONE!

Tea party for Immigrants was a fantastic event to attend as it gave an opportunity to mingle with people from other countries.Mr  Charles Chong, MP Pungool GRC Singapore, was the chief guest for the party. Immigrants got a chance to interact with him openly. He was very well mingling with the crowd and was asking about experiences of immigrants in Singapore. This  event was  to create a one-community mindset that can help Immigrants assimilate with Singaporeans in a more effective way. All who attended this event got a chance to meet fellow immigrants from different countries, now sharing Singapore as their home. Party was well planned with games, inter-cultural dance performances, delicious snacks and other activities.Children participated very actively in games and were thrilled with the performances. Programme was very well anchored by Ms Azeeza Jalaludeen, Co-Founder of SHINE- A Social Enterprise .

Immigrants meet in Sengkang is an example of the liberal mindset of Singaporeans. Women Executive Community headed by Madam Samantha Wong is quite aggressive in organizing such events. Regular get-together for immigrants can really help in diminishing the line of difference between Singaporeans (existing & immigrants) so that they can mutually benefit each other by exchanging knowledge and outreaching to help the local society together.

5360_103449622998907_100000016087178_92713_5805989_n1Immigrants take time to settle in any new country. Singapore is a very immigrant friendly country. I never really felt as an immigrant in Singapore until I was addressed as while attending some community affair. Strange, but true. Singapore embraces every immigrant in her bosom like her own child. Singapore government has created such a wonderful arrangement for all immigrants’ settlement, which helps them to settle down easily in this new country. There are so many bad experience stories from immigrants in other countries. Immigrants in Singapore always have wonderful stories to share with the world. Whenever immigrant arrives in any new country he is insecure, suffers from cultural shock, is lonely, is looking for avenues to socialize and above all he wants to relate himself to the society around. Initially, it is difficult in any country, but Singapore government has done a wonderful job keeping in mind all these points and making proper channels for the immigrants to solve their problems. Singaporeans are very open-hearted and friendly by nature.

Tea party for immigrants is a really a brilliant concept which should be replicated throughout Singapore. It should become  regular affair to give all immigrants a chance to open up to society and be a part of it.
