What Women Want (WWW), a platform that focuses on women and empowerment, is spearheading one of the most relevant online summits in the world today happening this coming October 1 to 4, 2020. The summit will feature more than 70 international experts from all over, discussing and facilitating activities on various topics ranging from branding, digital marketing, sales, and pitching, to mental health, wellness, mentoring, and education, and of course, empowerment of the self and others.

So many underprivileged groups today have become even more vulnerable. This is especially true for women who have to handle the societal view of being submissive and demure while being expected to represent a strong and resilient persona all the time.

Not only does WWW believe that women should be more empowered, It asserts that empowerment encompasses sex and gender, skin color, and even age.

“The Global Online Women Empowerment Summit is more than just about women. The goal is to support women, youth, the elderly, those in the outskirts, and other vulnerable groups who are disregarded, disenfranchised, and disempowered. I want people to understand that they are more than the adversities that they face every day.

This summit is a personal challenge that shows people that hardships can be triggers to beautiful transformations. We want them to realize that adversities are opportunities to move towards where they want to be and to live a fulfilled life: with a profession that they love, with passion as their engine, and with a mission to give back and contribute.”

This completely free online summit incorporates many activities into its design: from interactive talks to in-depth discussions, to fun games and even cooking shows. The event will also be a venue for attendees and experts to discuss pressing societal issues. Through this event, many more activities and projects related to empowerment will branch off.

“The three and half-day hybrid summit is a kickoff and curiosity raising event for a long term empowerment project. I want to showcase the power of colorful connections and how diverse groups can work together and elevate each other. We want to lose labels and shift the meaning of women empowerment to simply empowerment. We want to connect generations. We want to allow everyone to be included in the conversation and this long term project. We speak up for communities and those in the outskirts who are still excluded from the system.

After the summit, we will be launching more projects to enable and support women entrepreneurs, seniors, youth, women, and men with hardships through global programs and collaborations.”

This summit will be a venue for both experts and attendees to know more about and support the empowerment of women and vulnerable groups. With over 108 experts spread out across three and a half days, it is ensured to be both an informative and entertaining experience for everyone.

The Global Online Women Empowerment Summit endeavours to become a community of advocates from across the globe that will together work towards the eradication of gender, race, and age discrimination. The goal is to elevate and uplift each other to become better versions of themselves.

Andrea Zsapka is an advocate for human connections, empowerment, sustainability, and is the founder of What Women Want, the platform organizing the summit.  She is a brand strategist and brand identity expert that helps entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, business owners, fresh graduates, small and middle-sized companies, and individuals to create and reinvent their brand.

For information about the summit and to register, go to https://www.whatwomenwantworkshops.com/

Womenlines takes pleasure to share about Leadership Coach Sally Anderson as a guest influencer for Leadership at Womenlines panel from New Zealand. Sally has privately coached key influencers internationally: CEO’s/executive teams/C-Suite forums/entrepreneurs/celebrities/politicians/millionaires/billionaires over 20 years. This week Sally is sharing insights about how to embrace uncertainty-

The leadership landscape globally has changed since COVID for ‘uncertainty’ is our new normal. This personally excites me for the base premise of the co-creative leadership curriculum I have developed is all about embracing the unknown realm as much as the known realm. Some leaders will relish the new terrain, some leaders however will struggle with ‘embracing uncertainty’ for it is foreign territory for most.

Your ability to evolve as a leader is directly proportional to your willingness to embrace uncertainty and trust the unknown realm – Sally Anderson

Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later – Bob Goff

When NOTHING is sure, EVERYTHING is possible – Margaret Drabble

Being ‘out of control’ as a leader is counterintuitive for to reach and attain a leadership position you have demonstrated your ability to control many multi-faceted dynamics. Everything has a contextual element – empowered control v disempowered control – if you control too much you impact the experience of flow (disempowered control) v unless you control and learn to navigate the terrain of what it means to be a leader you will not be effective (empowered control).

I am pretty clear that advocacy for ‘being out of control/embracing uncertainty’ for a leader is not part of the traditional leadership landscape. Think about it. What we can access within the known, the human realm is limited, yet what we can access within the unknown, co-creative realm is limitless. Being ‘out of control’ has a very negative connotation. Don’t get me wrong ‘control’ is a very powerful, necessary trait as a leader. I believe an ‘evolved leader’ is a conduit, and if a conduit is blocked then the flow is not possible. What furthers flow or impedes flow is a redundant conversation if the conduit does not acknowledge they are one, or if the conduit is blocked in any way.

Leaders are used to being in control. Its part and parcel of their role. A high percentage of leaders are frenetic in their energy given the workload they have to manage and the people they need to lead on a daily basis. There is a lot to DO resulting in stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. A leader interested in evolving in their leadership capability will not excel from the same paradigm that does not offer solace from the treadmill.

With C-Suite clients whom I have coached in the past, I have recommended that they take half a day off out of their workweek and go and play golf as an example. The reaction a lot of the time is almost like I have ‘murdered their mother’, the suggestion in itself is threatening for if they were to let go of EVERYTHING they need to DO in a given week, what would happen??? Sometimes in leadership, you are FAR MORE EFFECTIVE when you create the space for new things to come in. Miracles, flow, inspiration cannot be accessed when one is holding on so tight or in frenetic energy.

In closing…

I have written two books, the first was entitled ‘Freefall – Living Life Beyond The Edge’ – there are a lot of people in ‘Freefall’ right now. Here is an excerpt that I felt might be of interest to those struggling with dealing with their paralysing fear, and or navigating uncertainty and the unknown realm…

To visually express freefall, I use the image of a white feather against a black background on the cover of the book because access to the light is through the perception of what is dark. The imagery invites us to go to the places we don’t want to go because this is how we liberate our soul. When we do this, we realise there is nothing frightening there at all

Recommendation for the week: Think less and feel more, more heart / less head – the unknown is where the magic lies!

IF YOUR HAIR IS DONE PROPERLY AND YOU HAVE ON GOOD SHOES, YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING.

– Iris Apfel

Every woman reading this will agree on how important it is to have a good hair day!! We, women, strive so hard to find that one perfect shampoo, that one perfect home remedy which would suit our hair type and give us our shiny Rapunzel terraces we hoped for. For many years researchers and scientists all over the world have been working hard to make us believe their product is the best for our hair. But what is going to work for you?

I would strongly recommend trying these products for your hair for any of the issues like dry hair, brittle hair, hair fall, early greying of hair or dandruff.

1. Curry leaves

Take some curry leaves and make a paste of them. Now mix this curry leaves’ paste with yoghurt and massage it on your hair. Keep this mixture on your scalp for 20-25 minutes and then wash off with a mild shampoo. Apply this mask every week religiously to see instant results in terms of hair growth. Besides increasing hair growth, this hair mask will also make your hair shiny, smooth and bouncy.

You could also chew on 2-4 curry leaves daily to see quicker results.

2. Fenugreek seeds

Fenugreek seeds or methi contain proteins and nicotinic acid which are a great source for hair growth. It contains large amounts of lecithin which makes our hair healthy and strong and hydrates the hair. It helps to reduce the dryness of the hair, cures dandruff, conditions the hair, keeps the scalp cool and treats a variety of scalp issues. It is highly effective against hair fall and provides strength from the roots.

Soak methi in water for some time and make a paste. Apply coconut oil to the hair first, and then apply the paste on your scalp. For best results, allow the hair to absorb the mask for at least an hour before washing it.

3. Indian Gooseberry

The anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and exfoliating properties present in Indian gooseberry can help a lot in maintaining a healthy scalp and better hair growth rate.

Mix one tablespoon of Indian gooseberry or amla powder in two tablespoons of coconut oil and heat until boiling. Strain the oil and massage it onto your scalp before going to bed. The next morning, shampoo your hair as usual. Do this every week.

You can also take the Indian gooseberry fruit and its extract as a dietary supplement for healthy hair.

4) Flaxseed

Being rich in omega 3 fatty acids and protein, flaxseed can also help in promoting thicker naturally.

Eating freshly ground flaxseeds can help promote shiny and thicker hair. You can also take flaxseed oil.

5) Bananas

Bananas are rich in potassium that strengthens hair, minimizes breakage by restoring your hair’s natural elasticity, and facilitates repair of damaged hair. Bananas also moisturize your hair as they contain natural oils and about 75% water.

Strong, moisturized hair also is less prone to frizzing and tangling. Also, the fruit is packed with vitamin A, B6, C and E, as well as zinc and iron.

Take 3 ripe bananas (overripe is best), 3 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons yoghurt. You could adjust the proportions based on your hair length.

Blend these ingredients thoroughly in a food processor or blender. If you need to add liquid, add a tablespoon of milk. Rinse hair with warm water before you apply the mixture and lightly pat it to remove excess water.

Add the mixture to the hair massaging the mixture into your scalp as you add, and leave on for 20 – 30 minutes under a plastic cap, and then a towel for added heat. Rinse out and shampoo and condition as you wish.

Dr Rukshin Master is an alternative medicine practitioner having done her M.D. in Homoeopathy. She is a PhD (Scholar) and runs a successful practice in Singapore.
