Womenlines takes pleasure to welcome Jo Jackson, Performance Coach from Sydney Australia as a guest contributor at Womenlines. Jo believes that choosing the road less travelled will always lead you to a better outcome. In this article, Jo is describing how awareness about just a little change in attitude can help in managing any crisis management better way-

We had just listened to a 30-minute monologue outlining how our forty-something friend was not getting what he should at work. After working in the same company for 18 years, he has had enough. A new Director of Sales & changes due to a new world view, he is feeling frankly annoyed that he has no recognition of tenure or previous achievements (which have saved this company more than once). He is the guy that everyone wants to be like – on the surface.

“It’s just ridiculous! I have everything – and yet nothing!

There is no fulfilment for me at the peak of my career. What now?”

Understandably he’s unable to clarify just how all of his experience has been extricated to null & void, seemingly overnight. What happened to identifying the challenge, plan it & overcome it with resourcefulness? He has succeeded with this direction before & is more than capable of handling this latest business shift with his eyes closed & standing on his head.

He should be living large & enjoying the spoils of his success. Instead he is unfulfilled, unappreciated & feeling duped. Life is seemingly falling apart. His family is fracturing, his body has been under-valued, and he maintains the external every day to keep up the front.

Fuelling the paradigm

The term “midlife crisis” was first breathed in London in 1957. Forty-year-old Dr. Elliott Jaques presented to the British Psycho-Analytical Society the findings that people in their mid-30s typically experience a depressive period lasting several years. It was not a new concept completely: just a new name. These days we see these behaviours in people during their forties. The mid-life crisis, as we know it, is usually ear-marked with realisations that:

In this case: exacerbated by the realisation that the skills our friend has honed through years of sacrificing family time, juggling multiple roles, forging ahead with determination & ensuring that he has everything that he needs – are no longer valued.

We don’t need a cliché to see that there are various elements in play here, each of which will interplay with how he manages this challenge instead of giving into it just because someone has given it a name.

Do it differently

Fortunately, our guy is willing to operate at a higher level of consciousness so he’s not off to ejaculate the usual behaviours of a Gen-X professional enduring this uncertainty. There is no new convertible & he has opted out of circulating the establishments looking for something to reinforce his masculinity & self-worth or tattooing himself with something “meaningful”.

He doesn’t prescribe to the theory that just because he has taken time to be dissatisfied, he is failing. Instead he has chosen a path that is becoming more popular.

He is re-purposing his experience to create positivity by activating his

choice to elevate his consciousness into a new future.

He is not interested in being the victim, but in taking action. Using what he knows, he has chosen education to change his perspective by reinvigorating his life into the new order. He has facilitated change into a new perspective engaging meditation, personal development and self-care to determine his real priorities in life, along with a re-evaluation of his wants.

Three months later, in the midst of COVID-19, he is a different man who is remarkably surprised at how easy the shift has been for him. Peaceful, fulfilled & exuding a joy that is unmissable. His life is now built on nurturing his spirit first, not his ego. He focusses on bringing joy to others first, which in turn surges him into a true love of life itself. He is thriving in his new role at his new company – his company that he started during a time of noted repression and fear – COVID.

He decided that he was not going to be the victim, but the contributor.

Instead he has chosen a mid-life awareness.

Overcome it

It’s time to acknowledge that we have the power to leverage our dissatisfaction instead of hurtling into a state of depression, resulting in becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. How do we produce certainty for the future when the world is not giving it to us? We create it.

We have the capacity to become more than we are today. Any reflection (even if borne from complaining) is an opportunity for conscious elevated awareness where the old becomes the foundation for the new. The key is to decide that your dissatisfaction is enough to upgrade your expectations into wanting something more.

It is a pleasure to share about Senior Physiotherapist Shubhangi Gaikwad from the United Arab Emirates as an  Influencer for health and fitness at Womenlines panel. A Dedicated PT offering 10 years of acute-chronic care experience. This month Shubhnagi is guiding about various self-pain management tools-

In this world of self-care, every woman is progressing in making themselves self-sufficient, so that they can manage most of their tasks by themselves be it skincare, financial decisions, homemaking, self-learning for various subjects etc… so I thought to share some of the tools of self-pain management at home which is safe and gives relief.

Whether it’s a working woman or homemaker, every passing day of women’s life is filled with nonstop work. Every day is a long tiring day. Staying long hours in the kitchen, looking after the family, going out for work, or be it just a long shopping day, it leads to few common pain issues such as back pain, pain around the shoulders, neck, headaches, etc.

I have found most of the ladies coming to the clinic with pain, have no idea that they have accumulated the pain in due course of time. They have been ignorant for months and years which leads to the severity of symptoms.

Other contributing factor which aggravates pain symptom is lack of knowledge, many females don’t know how they can get rid of some mild fatigue pain at initial level. And can avoid future complications.

Let me share an example of one of my patients, she has been having mild pain in her neck for 10 years. Every time she has increased load at kitchen or office her pain aggravates but she continues like this every time and she been feeling the muscles around her neck and shoulder are getting tighter and tighter as time passing. Still, she been ignorant and hadn’t started any kind of treatment. Finally, she got hospitalized as one day she couldn’t move her neck due to severe pain. Thankfully with a thorough assessment, it had been found it is all due to spasm and muscle tightness. This could have led to cervical spondylosis or nerve impingement.

It’s very important to understand that any sign & symptom shown by our body should not be ignored. Learn how you can save your body at the initial level and avoid complications. I am sharing Some of the basic proven remedies which you can apply at home when having mild symptoms of muscle ache, tightness, spasm.

Tools for self-pain management:

                  1. Hot/ cold pack: always keep a hot and cold pack at home. Keep a cold pack always in your fridge.  For any acute injury apply Ice pack immediately. Hot pack can be use if you feel fatigue, muscle tightness, spasm etc.

                  2. Rollers: If you have long standing hours in kitchen, or sit long hours at work and you end uo with muscle tightness by the end of day then, self-massage using roller can help you release instantly. This will prevent your muscles from developing trigger points.Various form of rollers is available in market. Choose wisely.

                  3. Pain modulation machines: Pain modulation modalities are available which can be used easily at home. Instead of taking pain killers to use these machines. Before buying these, It’s recommended to take expert advice of your physiotherapist for the best selection of a machine for you.

Try these three quick pain relief accessories on your own and let me know does it make your life easier. If you have any query regarding how to choose the best accessories for yourself, how to get it or how to use it, feel free to ask me or send a direct message.  I will be happy to get you out of pain.

Womenlines takes pleasure to share about Style Coach Influencer at Womenlines panel, Stephanie Michelle, Coach of Style. Stephanie Michelle, Coach of Style is a Personal Stylist and Visual Presence Coach.  She helps women transform and enhance their visual presence so that they love who they are and show up as the best version of themselves. Ultimately saving them time, money, and effort giving them the Power of Style. This month Stephanie Michelle is sharing tips on how innovatively you can use the colour blue in your wardrobe-

Have you ever said “I have nothing to wear” or “I am tired of wearing black”? Do not worry, you are not alone. The color black is one of the most common colors used on a daily basis around the world. It is an easy color to use and one of the most universal tones.  Black can be mixed with many, if not all, other colors and generally can be worn by most people. Let me disrupt your thinking in regards to the color black; it is not the only color that is bold and commanding. There is another bold color that works well, too: the color blue. Navy blue to be exact. This color shows strength, integrity, authority, and structure.

Color is used as a personal form of expression. It is used to convey a message. In most arenas, it is used to evoke a feeling and create an aura of change or movement. What hues immediately come to mind when you think of beautiful colors? Is blue one of them, or more specifically, navy blue? Navy blue has been viewed to be a masculine color. Well, that may be true, but ladies, you can put your own twist on it. Make blue beautiful for you.  Follow these simple tips to revive your wardrobe, make a statement, and make blue the new black.

4 Tips on how to wear Navy Blue

  1. Wear It In A Fun Suit

Pantsuits are the one-stop shop when trying to find something to wear. They can be functional and stylish. The key is to find the pantsuit that works best for your body type. To make this navy piece fun, try wearing a subtle pattern (ie. pinstripe, floral, or polka dot).

  1. Mix It With A Vibrant Color

Navy blue is a color that ranges from dark to extremely dark, making it a good rival for the color black. Mixing navy with a vibrant color potentially highlights undertones. The dark hue can be a great backdrop to highlight a vibrant color, or it can be used as the main piece with a touch of small, colorful accents. The complementary color for blue is orange, so starting in this family of colors will help you in making secondary decisions.

Do not limit yourself to just this color; personalize it by trying others.

  1. Keep It Simple

Simple, classic, and clean styles are always great go-to’s. What would be considered simple? Pairing the base blue with a neutral such as white, ivory, silver, even gold. Adding simple jewelry is also a good way to add a bit of subtle flair.

  1. Go Over The Top

Go bold and mix a collage of your favorites together. Use pieces such as hats, headbands, scarfs, colorful shoes, printed shoes, or bold coverups (ie.sweater or jacket).

These tips demonstrate how exchanging black for blue is a viable choice that you should not overlook. Step out of the mundane and try something new. It can be exciting. You are limitless. Blue is boundless, and so are your options.
