Don’t wait for the Change, Be the change”- a famous quote by Mahatma Gandhi!

For some people, this is a quote but few people have followed it in reality to become a real-life change they want to see around. Mr Prabhakar Rao C.M from Bangalore, who has taken right action following this quote, has shared with Womenlines his real life-changing experience which is helping him to live life with some incredible mission-

Mr Prabhakar Rao C.M, Aged 48, & more popularly known as GoGreen Rao in Indian Cycling forum. An IT Professional having 25 years of IT Experience, Last worked as a CIO with one of the leading Garments exporter company in Bangalore, taking care of their IT infrastructure. At the end of 2013, he quit his full-time job and opted to follow his passion for saving the environment.

He is the Founder member of http://www.gogreengocycling.org/ which started in the year 2008. The group consists of professionals from various background, who are putting their efforts in promoting Cycling in B’lore & other parts of the country. Their main aim is to create awareness on Cycling, its health benefits & opt for a traffic-free & pollution free city eventually working towards saving Mother Nature by stopping “Global Warming” Born & Bought up In a place called Gangavathi also known as “Rice Bowl of Karnataka” (390Km from Bangalore ) surrendered by paddy field greenery.

His Inspiration for starting this “Go Green Go Cycling” Campaign came up after his Boss Mr Raju Mahtaney gave him a DVD with a title “An inconvenient truth” (http://www.climatecrisis.net/trailer/a documentary movie about Global warming, directed by Davis Guggenheim, presented & narrated by former the United States Vice President Al Gore. After watching this movie, He started thinking about contributing his part-time & his family time to Mother Nature. He chooses Cycling to be one of the best modes of payback to Mother Nature as it not only helps to save fossil fuel and is environmentally friendly but also gives out various personal benefits like keeps us fit & healthy, saves money & on top of all it helps in preserving Mother Nature. In September 2008, he decided to put his car off the road which was contributing to the pollution and traffic jams, then he started cycling to the office. In the beginning, he ensured to cycle twice a week to his office and do his bit to the Mother Nature but within few weeks he realized, cycling alone to office would not suffice the need of hour hence shared his concept of Going Green by Cycling with his fellow colleagues, few of them joined but very soon they stopped. This is when he shared his thoughts and his concept of Cycling to the office on the internet through a blog post where he quoted “Go Green, for a better tomorrow, Go Cycling”. The kind of positive response from unknown people was amazing. They not only liked the concept they also were ready to cycle and be part of the initiative. This was the beginning of the GoGreen family. Though he started alone, after a few years they had 4000+ like-minded professional from various backgrounds who have registered as members of GoGreen & number is growing day after day. He along with his group has successfully organized around 630+ Sunday GoGreen IRP (I Ride with Pride) Campaign rides, riding a distance ranging from of 25 to 200+ km.

The GoGreen IRP Campaign Ride starts from South B’lore JP Nagar by 6:30 am and ride towards Cubbon Park Central library which is the central meeting place where other members from various parts of the city meet and pick a predefined destination and ride. They cycle along the city roads to spread the awareness of Going Green through Cycles, at the same time they also train the newly joined members to bring in the confidence of cycling with the traffic, eventually converting them and making them independent from Fossil Fuels. “Say No to Co2 (Carbon dioxide ) by saying yes to C2O (Cycle to Office)” & “I Ride With Pride” are Mr GoGreen Rao’s quotes & further he says “ Don’t wait for the Change, Be the change” is one of his favourite quote on which the entire campaign is revolving. while being asked about his Mission & Vision, he says his Mission is “Give back to Mother Nature and Save Mother Nature” and His Vision is to “ Create separate lanes for motor vehicles on all the existing roads and dedicate the rest of road for Cycles.” He has received several recognitions from various organization appreciating his efforts & promoting cycling and initiating GoGreen in the city & other places, “Bangalore Youth Award”, “Bicycle Bull of India 2018 Award” & very recently REX “Karmaveer Chakra award” instituted by iCONGO & UnitedNations are few prestigious awards that were received during the past 11 years of his campaign.

Yafot wellness in Singapore is offering Homeopathic consultancy under Dr Charuta Deshpande, who is having an incredible experience and knowledge, which she wants to use by helping out people suffering from various illnesses especially in a holistic way. Book a free consultation with Dr Charuta Deshpande at Yafot Wellness to have an understanding of how homoeopathic way of treatment can be helpful to you. As an Influencer at Womenlines panel, Dr Charuta is sharing an insightful article on role of Homeopathy in boosting immunity-

How can you improve your immune system? If you feel that you are coming down with allergies quite often and taking time to recover, have a feeling of tiredness most of the times, experiencing unreasonable aches and pains or not sleeping well – it might mean that you’re your immune system isn’t functioning optimally. A ‘healthy you’ is a result of harmonious functioning of various local and general systems to maintain homeostasis. (Homeostasis refers to any process that living things use to actively maintain fairly stable conditions necessary or survival) These include your immune system, respiratory system, musculoskeletal system and so on. ‘Psycho-neuro-endocrine-immune’ axis is the most pivotal health regulatory axis, which when disturbed is the root cause of most of the chronic illnesses.

Homoeopathy is a therapeutic technique that initiates the process of recovery by stimulating the body’s own homeostatic system to maintain good health. That means homoeopathy in a way boosts the body’s natural systems to function at their optimum. Hence the betterment achieved is permanent and long-lasting, addressing the root cause of the illness.

Homoeopathy taps on the bodies potential to heal itself. Homoeopathic remedy internally sets up with the body for a positive reaction by stimulating the body’s natural mechanisms to function optimally. Thus, in the case of eczema, while it addresses the local lesions, it also tries to bring back the normal functioning of the immune and skin system. So, as the skin starts improving, there is no going back as now your previously deranged immune and local skin systems are performing normally.

In the current times, chronic diseases, like hypertension, asthma, gastritis, IBS, psoriasis, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, depression, insomnia pose the greatest danger to our mortality, to our overall health. Stress has found to be a direct trigger or an underlying maintaining cause for development and maintenance of such illnesses. All these chronic illnesses are a result of the inability to notice the early red flags or mismanagement of these. The high-pressure modern life with its insistence on instantaneous relief, many times we are forced to opt for symptomatic reliefs. But when you seek such support in a series, it is eventually taking a toll on your bodies natural defence system by curbing its normal action even before it starts.

To summarize, Homeopathy, instead of trying to attack a specific problem, tries re-establish health by attempting to stimulate bodies natural defence systems in a gentle, safe and natural manner to produce long-term health benefits.

The three-day congregation celebrated inclusivity, egalitarianism and extraordinary in ordinary. Awardees for this year represented 10 plus countries

November 27, 2019, New Delhi: Charu Mehrotra has been conferred with the REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship (RGKF) instituted by International-Confederation-Of-NGO-(iCONGO) in partnership with UN (United-Nations).

Charu received the fellowship for her online magazine Womenlines.com at the recently concluded“iCONGO’s REX Conclave in New Delhi for her commendable work in the field of social service at the annual “iCONGO’s  REX Conclave that was held from November 25 to 27 in New Delhi.

The three-day congregation celebrated inclusivity, egalitarianism and extraordinary in ordinary as REX believes in POWER of ONE and “I Change to Change India, I change to change the World and I change to change everything”.

The coveted awards celebrate their belief in “Not just Talks but ideas for Action” to usher in change and mind-shift. The 3-day REX CONCLiVE is a must for all Karmaveer award recipients and REX Karmaveer Global Fellows to attend because the 3 days is where a lot of collective-learning, knowledge-sharing and wisdom-transfer. Thus, the REX CONCLiVE is not just a school, college, institution or university of learning, but a TEMPLE OF LEARNING that celebrates and values LIFE, LEADERSHIP and Leaning2Learn lessons that each fellow and award recipient shares with each other. Here everyone is a learner and teacher and mentor and mentee. In the words of Jeroninio Almeida (founder of REX and Karmaveer mission) in his book series Karma Kurry “I believe that everyone is a hero, a leader, a volunteer, a teacher and a champion of change. All we need to do is acknowledge and understand this and then help others to also understand the same. That’s all it takes to be a hero, a leader, a volunteer, a teacher and a champion of change.”

The award recipients for this year represented several countries which included Iran, Mexico, France, UK, Romania, Netherlands, Belgium, USA America, Singapore, China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and from across the globe and were finalised after a rigorous selection process. These awards seek to celebrate and inspire individual citizen social responsibility, justice and action, and are held every year on the day the Indian Constitutional Pledge was signed.

Commenting on the RGKF, iCongo and REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship mission, founder Jeroninio Almeida said, “Ours is not just an award it’s a responsibility for being more and doing more by learning more.  It’s a journey and the fellowship is just the beginning of the journey. That’s how we designed our awards culture and ethos. That’s what makes the REX Karmaveer very DIFFERENT from all other awards. It’s not just recognition but the award is a placement of trust on your shoulders to own more Individual Social Responsibility to do more and move up the awards hierarchy and the fellowship is that starting point.”

“We congratulate  Charu Mehrotra for possessing the conviction and compassion to stand up, speak out and lead the change with his/her positive attitude! The best part of the fellowship is everyone comes here thinking they are doing little or more than others and then we meet people who are doing more or less than us and we realise that there is no big and small deed, all ideas for action and actions matter as every little big change we create makes the big difference. Thus we all realise the power of ONE by coming Together as One to RIGHT every WRONG and hence experience and share THE JOY OF GIVING,” Almeida added.

The aim of the REX KARMAVEER GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP (RKGF) is to recognise people who have the courage of conviction to think differently and walk the path less trodden and to act on alternative/ innovative ideas which may make a difference in our world.

Your mornings hold big treasures for you if you are ready to dig out with discipline!

The Book ‘The 5 AM Club’ by famous author Robin Sharma will fuel you to start using your morning time mindfully. ‘Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise!’- This quote which we are reading since childhood has such a deep meaning, which I fully believe now after reading the book The 5 AM Club.

Here are the powerful keynotes from the book-

  1. Protection from distraction is precisely you need to work if you are serious about dominating your field and winning at your crafts. Neuroscientists call this peak mental state we are speaking of, where our perception becomes heightened and our availability to original ideas rises.
  2. Less is more, you know? Geniuses understand that it is smarter to create one masterwork than one thousand ordinary pieces.
  3. Developing high awareness around the things we do and having a painstaking approach to make our work perfect. Refining the details, sweating the little points, producing with precision rather than being unprofessional and careless.
  4. There is tons of competition at ordinary. But there is almost none at extraordinary. There has never been such a glamorous opportunity to become pearless because so few people are dedicated to world-class in this age of such scattered focus, eroded values and deteriorated faith in ourselves.
  5. Many of us lead time-starved lives, we absolutely need to have at least an hour first thing in the morning to refuel, grow and become healthier, more peaceful people.
  6. No one will believe in our ability to do great things until we first believe in our greatness and then put in the sincere and rigorous effort to raise it. As Picasso said- My mother said to me if you are a soldier you will become a general, if you are a monk you will become a pope. Instead, I was a painter and became Picasso.
  7. Rescript our personal story. Every time you become aware of yourself dropping into victim mode and make a strong courageous choice you rewrite the narrative. Each time you vote your superior self you starve your weaker side. An addiction to distraction is the death of your creative production.
  8. In some way, new technologies and social media are not only eroding the Everest of our glorious productive potential they are also training us to be less human. We have few real conversations, fewer true connections, and fewer meaningful interactions.
  9. People are making more mistakes in their work than ever before because they are not present to what they are doing. their precious concentration has been hijacked by a foolish use of technology.
  10. Simplify everything, become a purist, less really is more socially have fewer friends but go deep with them. An intense concentration only on what matters most is important. Simplify, simplify simplify. Stop managing time and start managing focus.
  11. Geniuses understand that every morn we wake up with the limited amount of will power as well as mental focus, so rather than wasting these valuable gifts by spreading them over many trivial choices, they automate as many basic things.
  12. Continue calibrating your mindset, purifying your heart set, fortifying your health set and escalating your soul set.
  13. Once you reclaim the power blocked by layers of toxic emotions and the wounds of the past, your heart set, mindset and health set and soul set will soar exponentially,
  14. And calm performers are the highest achievers!
  15. 5 assets of genius are highest in the morning- mental focus, your physical energy, personal willpower, original talent, and daily time.
  16. Four practises can help in making a financial fortune- positive expectancy, active faith, ever-increasing gratitude, and extreme value delivery.
  17. Your thoughts, your feelings, your words, and your deeds are the four resource that will allow you to materialize miracles in the world.

Let Excellence be your brand!

2. So when did you started working and what inspired or motivated you to take a plunge into your present venture?

I started teaching in 2005. I want to make a difference in education because of how I much suffered through the traditional educational system.

3. Can you share with us some of the challenges you faced during your initial days?

 Balance my full-time job and side hustle. Have no idea what I was doing.

4. So how do you balance your personal and professional life?

 I integrate the two. It is like having children. Once you are a mom, you are a mom regardless of where you go and what you do. Your mom identity is a part of you. For me, being an entrepreneur is the same. It is a part of me.

5. What would you suggest to other aspiring women who want to venture out on their own?

Work with a mentor or hire a coach. They can offer you so much support and give you so much advice that can shorten your learning curve.

 It is hard to list one. There are so many. If I have to choose one. It will be Mark Schaefer.

Womenlines loves to get empowering and informative content for all readers, viewers and followers from across the globe. Womenlines is delighted to welcome the organisation ‘Cancer Awakens’  as a sponsor for the content related to ‘How to prevent and thrive with Cancer’ under ‘Health’ segment. Enlightening content from Cancer Awakens is going to empower people with the right mindset and knowledge to prevent cancer and to thrive with it if one is diagnosed with it. In this month Nilima Bhat, founder director Shakti Fellowship, is throwing light on the proven science of psycho-neuro-immunology (PNI): How stress and immune system functioning in the mind compromises immunity and can lead to illness in the body-

Immunity: your best defence against illness

We often underestimate the role of immunity in cancer. The immune system is your best defence both against the occurrence and recurrence of cancer. The human body routinely produces potentially cancerous cell mutations which the immune system detects, deals with and flushes out. As a result, cancer (and illness) can only take hold when your immune system is compromised.

Illness, Stress and Immune System Functioning

stress and immune system functioningStress is a major problem of our times. Besides, many people have a limited understanding of what stress means and how serious it is.

Stress can originate at various levels within a person – physicalmentalemotionalsystemic and spiritual.

First of all, you need to uncover your stressors and their triggers. In addition, you can take specific actions to heal from them too. This discovery and recovery restores peak stress and immune system functioning.

Psychoneuroimmunology

The science of psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) states that the mind – where we experience stress – and the body – where illness manifests – are closely linked. Your feelings and emotions produce specific neurotransmitters in the brain.

Then the circulatory system carries these emotional imprints throughout the body. Your immune system identifies these as threatening and tries to fight them. No wonder, these perceived threats distract the stress and immune system functioning from doing its real job. Hence, you become more susceptible to illness.

The science of mind-body medicine

Psycho-neuro-immunology proves the mind-body connection. stress and immune system functioning in your mind compromises your immunity and leads to illnesses, including cancer.

Reflection

Womenlines is delighted to share about Anjalika, an IITTI (CANADA) certified professional Image Branding & Lifestyle Consultant, as an Influencer for Image Branding at Womenlines. Yes womenfolk, gear up to learn the tips and tricks to carry yourself with excellence and make excellence your brand. In her sharing for this month, Anjalika is sharing about etiquettes to follow while flying-

Air travel used to be lots fancier; travellers then, made effort to actually dress-up for their flights. Boarding the aircraft with a slight jaunt in their steps, they all had huge smiles plastered on their faces – lots of excitement in their hearts; with the anticipation and expectation of being welcomed warmly by the flight attendants and being served delicious warm meals while flying.

Air travel has lost its glitter but your air travel etiquette does not have to. What is more annoying than to find fellow passenger stretching out his or her legs on the headrest of the seat in front. Even worse, the news made rounds recently; someone was trying to dry his undergarment under the aircraft air vent fixed above every seat! Oh yes, course these are the over-the-top flying blunders; but the little ones we subconsciously do onboard flights sometimes can be disturbing too.

Let us take a look at some ways on how to be on your best behaviour while cruising at 43,000 feet. After all, the sky is the limit when it comes to preserving humanly etiquette.

* Do not talk too much.
Try not to be a chatterbox – know when to talk – when to pause – when to stop. One of my pet peeves is getting a neighbour who starts talking as soon as I rest my back on the seat. This person will talk about anything and everything without hitting the pause button. If you are anything like me, I value my personal time (and space) while travelling; respect that.

* Respect the space of those around
I was on the way to the States recently and while waiting for boarding, noticed fellow passenger bringing with her a cabin-sized suitcase, huge paper bags containing last-minute airport shopping, a baby bag with baby’s necessities and of course, her baby. How she even managed to be at the boarding gate is beyond me. Do not bring into the cabin more than what you can manage. Imagine filling up the overhead compartment with all your belongings; leaving nothing much for your fellow travellers; not to mention the fiasco you are creating while trying to juggle all these into the aircraft.

Another way of respecting those around you is when travelling on the coach, try not to recline your seat all the way; this diminishes a good chunk of space for the one behind you. Also, try to adhere with the proper timings of reclining; lift your seat to its proper position while the meal is being served; this definitely will give much better space to the one behind. Oh and yes, always look before reclining your seat. You do not want the one behind to be soaked in café au’lait just because you decide to recline during his coffee moment.

* Alcohol
Try not to drink too fast to max out on what is allowed on the flight. I know its part of the fare that you paid, however, that does not make it necessary to gobble up everything. Sitting next to a boozy-woozy in a cramped metal tube, high up in the sky is really not fun.

* Travelling with a child
Make sure he or she does not continually kick the seat in front. If he or she does it, apologize and keep an eye on your child. A little tip from this Mamma – pre-boarding bribe or pre-flight pep talk usually helps.

* Communicating with Flight Attendants

Ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers is a flight attendant’s utmost priority; try not to take too much of his / her time. There might be other passengers in a much dire need than you. Be reasonable, practise courtesy always and don’t forget your THANK YOUs.

* Scents
Dousing too much perfume before or on flights is not a good idea; someone might have an allergic reaction. Also, limit the use of medicated oil while flying; something that soothes you might be of annoyance to others.

* Sounds
Nothing like listening to your favourite songs while flying; keep the volume on your earphones down. Your tune of choice might not be the cup of tea of other fellow passengers.

* Footwear
If you are to adhere strictly to the rule of travel etiquette, shoes are to be kept on throughout the whole duration of your flight, however, should there be a need to remove your footwear, the next best option is to at least leave your socks on; never bare feet.

* Wake your seat mate-up

Before making a beeline to the bathroom, make sure you wake your seatmate up; do not just squeeze through. Isle seating passengers, you have the obligation to make things easier for the middle and window-seated mates. So before you reserve your seats, decide which role are you most comfortable with
