“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver”- Mahatma Gandhi

How true is this saying!

Health is the real wealth and to manage this wealth Naturopathy can play important role in our life. Lady of the house is considered the pillar of a family and to make her family healthy she herself has to be healthy and happy. It is such a pleasure to introduce  Saravanan Naturopathic Physicians as an Influencer for Naturopathy on Womenlines panel. Every month in his article Saravanan will be sharing about how womenfolk can prevent various disease or get cured by following naturopathy.

In this article, Saravanan is sharing about Naturopathy and women’ health-

Naturopathy and Women’s health

Holistic and wellness therapies for mental, physical, emotional and spiritual are widely used by women all over the world than men. It may be because women are more aware and empowered to take charge of their health. Women want to look young, be healthy and feel empowered. Naturopathy can play a significant role in it.

Naturopathic therapies do not follow a single road to good health. It combines nature with modern science. This approach to health care embraces a wide array of non-invasive techniques and therapies, including traditional healing methods, principles, and practices.

Naturopathic therapies focus on holistic prevention and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. Naturopathic physicians work with the body’s inherent ability to restore and maintain optimal health. The naturopathic physician tries to encourage good health by helping to create a healing internal and external environment.

Naturopathic physicians treat most medical conditions. Among the most common ailments they treat are allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia, skin challenges and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Basic Principles of Naturopathy

Naturopathy adheres to the following health principles

Is Naturopathy safe with conventional medicine? Naturopaths are willing to work cooperatively with their conventional-medicine counterparts. You should continue your existing treatments while seeking care from a naturopath. Be sure to keep all of your health care professionals apprised of all treatments you are receiving.

When to Visit a Naturopathic Physician? You might want to visit a naturopathic physician for many reasons. Perhaps you have a chronic condition that isn’t responding to conventional care. But you don’t have to suffer from a condition to visit a naturopathic physician. You may simply want to improve your overall health.

Naturopathy is particularly well suited for chronic conditions such as asthma, muscle pain, allergies, and arthritis, as well as disorders that may have a stress- or diet-related factors, such as digestive problems, insomnia, skin disorders and fatigue. Naturopathic physicians also treat colds, flu, and bronchitis. They treat premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and other menstrual and menopausal problems.

If you have a serious condition that requires hospitalization, major surgery or emergency treatment—for instance, if you have a broken bone—seek conventional medical assistance. You can receive follow-up care from your naturopathic physician, which may support natural healing pathways within the body.

Millenials are people born around and after 1984. I came to know after listening to this amazing talk by Simon Sinek, a British/American author, motivational speaker and marketing consultant. Certainly, this group of people has grown up in real technological advancements which have revolutionalized life for everybody. Just that it is appearing that advancement can cause trouble to them if they are not mindful of certain things. Take a note dear Millenials, just bring mindfulness to these points in life and you will certainly rock:)-
1.Get mindful of your phone and internet usage:
“Simon stresses that the youth should reduce their exposure to technology, specifically cell phones. Many of the elite in tech such as Steve Jobs and Evan Williams never allowed their children to use iPads or cell phones knowing full well what the outcomes would be from constant usage. They were well aware of the correlation of addiction with technology and the dopamine cell phones release in our brains. That awareness was part of their climb to such global success. An entire generation now has access to an addictive, numbing chemical called dopamine, through cell phones and social media, while they are going through the high stress of adolescence.”
2. Develop meaningful relations in life:
“An entire generation now has access to an addictive, numbing chemical called dopamine, through cell phones and social media, while they are going through the high stress of adolescence.Too many kids don’t know how to form deep, meaningful relationships. So we have a generation growing up with lower self-esteem that doesn’t have the coping mechanisms to deal with stress and now you add in the sense of impatience. They’ve grown up in a world of instant gratification.”
3. Let your mind wander at times for innovation:
“The best-case scenario, you’ll have an entire population growing up and going through life and just never really finding joy. They’ll never really find deep, deep fulfillment in work or in
The best case scenario, you’ll have an entire population growing up and going through life and just never really finding joy. They’ll never really find deep, deep fulfillment in work or in life the constant, constant, constant engagement is not where you have innovation and ideas. Ideas happen when our minds wander and we see something and we think.”

“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.”– Diane Mariechild

It is so true that woman is considered so powerful that she can create, nurture and transform her family in the best way she can. It is very important that this pillar of the family remains strong and happy. So ladies of all houses take a note of it. If you want your family to be healthy and happy then you have to be healthy and happy.Keep yourself up on the priority list.

  1. Keep a journal and list out what motivates you.
  2. Listen to motivation talks every day. Don’t think to plan out time from your busy schedule. Instead use your waiting time, traveling time to listen to talks. But yes do remember to download your choice of talks at home:)
  3. Be part of groups on social media which keeps sharing motivation talks and quotes and get access to new content. For example, https://www.facebook.com/groups/1840374632951172/ is a group which shares interesting motivational talks, quotes to keep group members spirit high. Be part of Uplift- an inspired life is a key to happy life group and get inspired and share inspiration too.
  4. Surround yourself with motivated people who share positive talks with you.
  5. Meditation is a must to do activity for everybody in morning. Switch on some meditation music and just sit for at least 20 Mins focussing on your breathing and relaxing your mind.

Womenlines requests readers to please share other tips in the comments section below to how to get motivation in life!

“If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”- Marc Anthony

Womenlines entrepreneur of this month is the perfect example of this saying. She is an accomplished theatre, TV and film actor with over 20 years of experience. After starring in popular TV serials on leading national channels in India like Swabhiman, having worked for well-known production companies like BR Chopra, Balaji Telefilms, and UTV Productions, she went on to be part of several theatre productions in the UK. Since 2007, she has been based in Singapore and has produced and directed many plays through her theatre company Wecandoitt. Meet Shalakaa Karnik Ranadive who is also the Singapore representative for Anupam Kher’s acting academy Actor Prepares  and read her journey in field of theatre in her own words-

1.Please share with our readers’ little bit about yourself.

I started off as an actor in Mumbai, in the 90’s. During this time, I acted in many popular Hindi TV serials, including Swabhimaan, Astitva and Zara Hatke. After I got married in 1998, my husband and I moved to the UK, where I acted in films and many theatre productions, which traveled around the UK, Europe, and Canada. My family relocated to Singapore in 2007, and I set up my own theatre production company 9 years ago, called Wecandoit. Under this, I direct and produce my own plays. In addition, I run drama workshops for adults and children.

2. So when did you started this venture and what inspired or motivated you to take a plunge into this venture?

My latest venture in theatre is “Dastak”, the first and only Hindi theatre festival in Singapore. We staged Dastak for the first time in 2016, and this year we are staging its second edition. Having worked in theatre in Singapore for over 9 years, I noticed that all the Hindi performances that were staged in the country were overseas productions, and very few were based in Singapore.

My workshops have allowed me to discover a huge talent pool, not just actors, and directors, but also creative writers. I wanted to create a platform for these individuals to showcase their talents, and I wanted audiences to come and enjoy theatre without burning a hole in their pockets. Dastak is not only a festival, it’s a journey in theatre. You learn, you enjoy, you share, and you get to project your talents to an unknown audience. It’s all about creating a beautiful creative community, from all walks of life.

3. Can you share with us some of the challenges you faced during your initial days?

The challenge for any creative venture is the monetary support. When you have a new idea, it takes time for it to materialize and for others to believe in your vision. I knocked on many doors for funding and support but in vain. Finally, I had to self-fund, and everyone who came on board was pro-bono. I am extremely thankful for all the artists who agreed.

4. So how do you balance your personal and professional life?

The key to balancing your personal and professional life is having a supportive team on both ends. On the personal front, it’s your family, your home that acts like a pillar. Professionally, it’s the creative team or committee who works round the clock with me. It’s a motivated effort on both sides.

5. What would you suggest to other aspiring women who want to venture out on their own?

Don’t wait for the right moment because there is never a right moment or the other way to see- it’s always the right moment! If you have decided to venture out- start now!

6. Is there any person who has mentored/supported/inspired?

Life is a journey and I have met many people who have inspired me through this journey. I don’t read motivational books to get inspired. Every time I meet a new person, rather than scrutinizing their flaws, I only notice their good qualities and that’s my take away. I have stopped being judgemental. This helps me to stay Inspired.

7. What do you have in the pipeline for your venture’s future development?

Plenty! I would love Dastak to go international. My dream is to make Dastak cross boundaries, and for the theatre community to keep growing!
Dastak 2017 will be staged In November this year in Singapore.

Womenlines wishes best of luck to Shalakaa for her bright future and lots of success for all her ventures!

As Plato mentioned “Music gives a soul to the universe,
wings to the mind,
flight to the imagination,
and life to everything.”
Music adds life to everyday life!

Music at the time of pregnancy listened by expecting mothers can lead to positive affect for both mother and baby. Researchers have proved that students can be smarter in their reasoning power if they are listening to classical music like Bach, Mozart and other types. Further researches also proved that-

“Music seems to prime our brains for certain kinds of thinking. After listening to classical music, adults can do certain spatial tasks more quickly, such as putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Why does this happen? The classical music pathways in our brain are similar to the pathways we use for spatial reasoning. When we listen to classical music, the spatial pathways are “turned on” and ready to be used.” This was mentioned in The Telegraph in Mar 2015 edition.

Nowadays Music based on alpha waves is in trend.

Alpha waves vibrate at a much more manageable 8 to 13 Hz. They are generally associated with relaxation and contemplation, but depending on which frequency recording you listen to, Alpha waves can be superb for focusing on work, studying and being creative and artistic.

So my dear Gals let’s get set to use all types of music for benefit of our family:)

  1. Religious music in morning for relaxation
  2. Work out music to pump energy
  3. Classical or Alpha music during study time
  4. Movie music eve time to entertain the whole family

“Every Night in my dreams…..” oops I already started humming;)…what are you going to listen to friends? Do share!!

It is the blessed time you are living in friends!

You are empowered with information because of surplus channels, you are empowered with right mindset because of your education and you are empowered with confidence because of your right grooming. As a working woman, you are really working hard to be financially independent and live life on your own terms. It is your duty to yourself to tap into all sources which can help you in saving money to secure your future. A little amount of homework, time management, and passion can help you to save money and utilize it for better investments-

1.Exercise at home– Exercise is a must activity for any woman who wants to lead a healthy life. Doing exercises at gyms under the guidance of trainers is quite in fashion.  This requires investment in terms of time and money. If you are able to create a set of exercise as per your body requirement with a combination of Yoga and aerobics there is no need to go to the gym at all. Social media is full of such articles which can teach certain exercises to be carried at home.

2. Cook at home- Gals make cooking your hobby. Stop taking it as a mundane activity. Change your mindset for cooking as it is very well said- “You look what you eat”. And once you start cooking with an intention of looking good and healthy you will be amazed seeing the results. Save money by avoiding ordering food, plan out healthy cooking dates with friends, make groups of like-minded people who want to explore healthy cooking and share healthy recipes with each other

3. Groom at home- Most of the women dreams to look as beautiful as she can and goes to any extent to spend money and avail various beauty grooming services for her benefit. It all takes a little attention to hair and skin and enhancing inner beauty by eating well to look beautiful. Parlours and spas can be helpful in providing instant solutions to your beauty problems. But in the long run, your personal care will be responsible for your outer and inner beauty. Therefore friends start empowering yourself with knowledge and to do a list of actions to be taken at home for your beauty care. After all, you are considered to be a multitasker, everything is possible for you!

Energy is the source of all actions and as a woman, we have to carry out so many activities and play various roles of mother, sister, wife, we need energy in abundance. Energy is the key to giving 100% to all roles. The moment we have less energy our performance is affected and so the family is also disturbed.

Everybody wants the lady of the house to be happy, jovial, energetic with lots of smiles and above all healthy. But as we are consumed by various emotions throughout the day our energy levels fluctuate throughout the day. Healthy mind, healthy body, with positive emotions, help in generating a positive flow of energy. Now the challenge is how one can generate positive thoughts throughout the day. Here are 3 amazing rituals I came across and would love to share with my readers, which can help in managing your energy level throughout the day-

1. Get mindful about your emotions. How are you feeling at any particular time of the day and then how are you reacting to those emotions can help in managing oneself positively. Obviously, people perform better in the positive energy environment. Therefore search for those positive energy generators in your life

2. Right nutrition and the right amount of sleep helps in managing emotions in the better way.So friends please take your eating habit seriously. Eating right kind of food like banana which can help in generating positive emotions can help in managing oneself better way.

3. Appreciating others is the other way one can feel better and filled with gratitude. Gratitude helps in connecting with others and placing them at the larger place than oneself. When we appreciate others that feeling of connectivity fills us with all positive emotions and thus increase our inner power.

What are the other ways you are following to increase your inner energy levels:)! Please do share tips friends by adding comments below.

I came across the concept of SoulKids® and felt so exhilarated!

The first time I heard about this unique program was from Shivani, Co-founder of SoulKids® Academy East Coast at an event where we met for the very first time. In those brief moments, Shivani shared with me about the work she does with children and how significant are life-skills in their upbringing.

Her passion and niche had always been to work with children and help them to broaden their mindsets, and this is exactly what she has achieved through her work as a life-skills coach since 2014 at her own academy where she offers coaching and group workshops using the SoulKids® platform, originally founded by Vikas Malkani.

We as adults are aware that most of the issues that we face in life are stemmed from our childhood beliefs. With this in mind, SoulKids® was created, especially for kids, to bring essential life skills to them from a very young age and to inspire them to change the beliefs they carry about themselves and to learn what is possible and what they can potentially achieve.

In today’s busy world, parents are not able to take the time to teach such life skills to their kids. Good news is that these can be taught and children definitely benefit from that additional guidance and respond very well.

Women Lines managed to have a catch up with Shivani and know a bit more about her everyday passion. Shivani is a mom of 2 lovely children 12 & 6, who she jokingly says, still manage to have their little fights and arguments despite a 6-year gap! But what makes her say this in a very calm tone is because this is what she helps others in – parents and children in their attitude and beliefs.

It is pleasure for Women Lines to share what, Shivani has to say about parenting, something she often shares with the parents during her interactions with them-

“Children are our most prized and precious assets!

We as parents, are constantly evolving and learning about our children as well as ourselves from the moment we embark on our parenting journey!

However, as much as being a parent is a paramount feeling of completion, parenting our children through the different phases of their lives can be a challenging and daunting ride, be it an infant, a toddler, a tween, a teen or a young adult!

Along with this continual ride of parenting, we experience countless accomplishments and failures, engage in agreements and conflicts, embrace ups and downs and at times simply give in to circumstances which are a result of external factors out of our control!

Needless to say that not one way of parenting is more superior or perfect than the other. Every parent and his or her family define their own rules and values.

What is important is, to create a strong foundation for your child, which is where the role of life-skills plays a part! The best part is that children can be given that extra support and guidance on such life-skills from as young as 6 years old!”

Shivani offers individual coaching and group life-skills workshops for children aged 6 to 15 years old using the SoulKids® programs of Self-Confidence™, Creative Mind-set™, and SoulKids One-on-One coaching™.

Why SoulKids® One-on-One coaching? How can it support your child?

A highly effective and beneficial tool for children to help them in the emotional, social & intellectual skills is the SoulKids individual coaching for children.

SoulKids® Coaching is a unique process by which, your child receives practical tools that enable them to develop greater self-confidence, enhance their sense of responsibility, become happier, expand their creative thinking, release stress, and expand their mindset and belief systems.

It is a great option to help children deal with:

Children who have taken up one-on-one coaching, have benefited immensely by overcoming their limitations, anxieties, and fears & blooming into happy and successful individuals. Very convenient as you can mutually work out the day & time of the sessions with your coach. Packages are also available to give your child a continued support channel he/she needs.

Group Life-skills workshops:

Life-skills can be taught in a very fun and engaging manner. Children are trained on life skills not taught in schools such as leadership skills, teamwork, self-confidence, creativity, focus and other positive qualities.

The entire SoulKids® training is geared to raise a child’s level of self-esteem, to see his natural strengths, talents, and abilities and to strengthen his sense of self-belief.

The result is that children experience an increased sense of self-awareness and self-esteem.

The program is loved by children, who want to keep coming back for more! It is taught by way of stories, games, role-plays and activities and the fun element is at its peak. It helps children step into the world as happy, confident and successful individuals as they are able to relate to the wisdom and life lessons very well.

To know more or sign-up your child connect with Shivani at +6581808094. Check out parent reviews and their schedule for May 2017 at   www.facebook.com/soulkids.ec1
