Hillary Clinton, co-author of a thriller book!

Yes, it is true! Louise Penny and Hillary Clinton teamed up to write the new geopolitical thriller “State of Terror.”

Place your order at Amazon Now!

Clinton has written several nonfiction bestseller books on her own over the last many years, like Hard Choices, It takes a village, What Happened etc. It is amazingly inspirational to see she tapped into her creative side this time. Last week she tweeted that book was “a labour of love.”The plot in “State of Terror” is ambitious and apocalyptic. Nothing less than the future of the world is at stake. As the novel begins, Ellen Adams, the former proprietor of an international media empire, has been improbably appointed U.S. secretary of state by Douglas Williams, the condescending president whose candidacy she had opposed. Exhausted and dishevelled after flying back overnight from a disastrous trip to South Korea, she arrives late for Williams’s State of the Union address.

Hillary Clinton is a true leader in a real sense. She is an inspiration to many girls who has proved that nothing can stop you from achieving your vision. Hillary Clinton’s work profile as shared on her website reflects that she has been always a woman of substance, working towards making the world a better place!

Hillary Rodham Clinton has served as secretary of state, senator from New York, the first lady of the United States, the first lady of Arkansas, a practising lawyer and law professor, activist, and volunteer—but the first thing her friends and family will tell you is that she’s never forgotten where she came from or who she’s been fighting for.

Hillary grew up in a middle-class home in Park Ridge, a suburb of Chicago. Her dad, Hugh, was a World War II Navy veteran and a small-business owner who designed, printed, and sold drapes. Hugh was a rock-ribbed Republican, a pay-as-you-go kind of guy who worked hard and wasted nothing. Hillary helped with the family business whenever she could.

After graduating high school, Hillary attended Wellesley College, where she became more involved with social justice activism. By the time she graduated, Hillary had become a prominent student leader—she was elected by her peers to be the first-ever student speaker at Wellesley’s commencement ceremony.

After college, Hillary enrolled in Yale Law School, where she was one of just 27 women in her graduating class. After law school, Hillary didn’t join a big law firm in Washington or New York. Instead, she went to work for the Children’s Defense Fund, going door-to-door in New Bedford, Massachusetts, gathering stories about the lack of schooling for children with disabilities. These testimonials contributed to the passage of historic legislation that required the state to provide quality education for students with disabilities. This commitment to public service and fighting for others—especially children and families—has stayed with her throughout her life. Exceptional work done by Hillary can be listed as-

Squid Game is a South Korean survival drama television series streaming on Netflix. Written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, it stars Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, and Kim Joo-ryoung. The series, distributed by Netflix, was released worldwide on September 17, 2021.

The series revolves around a contest in which 456 players, all drawn from different walks of life but each deeply in debt, play a series of children’s games with deadly penalties if they lose for the chance to win a 45.6 billion prize. A nail-biting Korean drama proved to be a powerful story featuring hundreds of debt-ridden contestants vying to win 45.6 billion Korean won (£28.2 million). Hwang had conceived of the idea based on his own economic struggles early in life as well as the class disparity in South Korea.

What is special about Squid Game?

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the writer of the series mentioned in the media that the show was a story about modern capitalist society and the intention was to show the actions of someone that can do anything (to survive) in an extreme situation.

Women all over the world suffer. The scale of female suffering is staggering. From sexist jokes at work to mutilation and murder, mothers, daughters, and sisters are being tortured in record numbers. While a male partner inflicts the vast majority of incidents, female abuse extends beyond the domestic confines of the home. Recent figures suggest that a third of the world’s female population is thought to have experienced sexual and physical violence.

First, Do No Harm

The care and medical industry have a difficult job, especially now during a pandemic. The vast majority of medical staffers and doctors are caring people. Yet, the shocking fact remains that care facilities such as hospitals, assisted living homes and psychiatric wards are no stranger to abuse and violence against women. In the US alone, 2.6 million people reside in care homes, with a shocking 44% suffering abuse, of which 65% are women. Consequently, in addition to physical violence, there have been over 20,000 reported incidents of sexual abuse.

These are figures of abuse against women reported by the WHO from the past 20 years. However, the figure is thought to be underreported, and the actual number is believed to be much higher. This is because the figure only includes reported incidents and offences committed by nursing home staff and not other residents. If you suspect abuse is taking place, don’t hesitate to report it to the necessary authorities. And consult sympathetic nursing home abuse lawyers in your area to find out what you can do to protect your loved ones.

Not Safe for Work

Recent movements over the past two years have served to highlight some of the issues women face. Powerful men like Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein and R. Kelly are outed as serial abusers of people in their employ. These three men alone are responsible for dozens of serious sexual crimes against women, including sex trafficking and rape. But as the #MeToo movement highlights, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Hollywood hosts a dirty open secret regarding its treatment of women, but women at work face abuse every day in all sectors.

The United Kingdom is known for its uncompromising approach to crime. It utilizes one of the best justice systems in the world. Established and enforced laws protect society throughout, and they extend to the workplace. Yet shockingly, violence against women while at work persists.

When the Trades Union Congress surveyed 1,500 women, they found the following:

The figures speak for themselves, and this is from one developed and cultured nation. The rest of the world also suffers from violence against women. In some countries, cultural and religious perspectives overlook horrific treatment and abuse.

Rights as a Human

There are certain parts of the world, the UK and the USA included, where specific religious communities all but overlook some of the most horrendous mistreatment of female community members. So-called honour killings account for over 5,000 recorded murders each year. These abhorrent violations of human rights usually coincide with outdated religious and cultural views. Typically, a female family member has allegedly disgraced the family via refusing an arranged marriage or having an affair.

Cultural practices are also a worrying trend in certain countries. For example, sub-Saharan African states like Somalia and the Arab world are known for the brutal act of forced female genital mutilation. A disturbing practise to which over 200 million girls and women have been subjected. The experience is physically excruciating and mentally scarring.  FGM is practised in over 90 countries and is legal in 22 of them.

Womenlines presents a talk show ‘Let’s erase Domestic Violence’.This talk show aims to share various ways to give hope to domestic violence survivors and erase this stigma from our society across the globe. It is a pleasure to share about a social enterprise HopeBox from Vietnam which is working towards giving hope to Domestic violence survivors in Vietnam. HopeBox is a social enterprise that helps these victims to train for skills in cooking, baking and tailoring. By helping train these women, they are able to get jobs or start their own enterprise from home. Womenlines takes delight to welcome Huong Dang, founder of HopeBox and Binh Rey, Principal, Trade Mark Attorney at Pointon Partners Australia and a passionate Patron of HopeBox, in the Let’s Erase Domestic Violence’ Show.

HopeBox runs a bakery kitchen that employs women who have experienced abuse to prepare and cook the food. Ordering a box of cookies or a gift box from HopeBox allows locals to directly help a survivor of family violence earn a fair wage, learn new skills and live at a safe house.

Huong Dang

Huong Dang founded HopeBox with the goal of helping rural Vietnamese women who have experienced domestic violence obtain a fresh start and break the cycle of abuse. Huong also works at KOTO as Director of Partnerships and Strategy. KOTO is a social enterprise that provides a holistic training program to street kids and disadvantaged youth.

By providing women with employment opportunities, HopeBox is helping the survivors to start fresh with a ray of hope for a better future. Huong founded HopeBox in 2018, a social enterprise that creates jobs for women who are victims of gender-based violence. HopeBox runs a bakery kitchen that employs women who have experienced abuse to prepare and cook the food. Ordering a box of cookies or a gift box from HopeBox allows locals to directly help a survivor of family violence earn a fair wage, learn new skills and live at a safe house.

Huong was born in 1986 in a farming family. Her father passed away when she was very young. Her mother had to work very hard just to make a living. At 13, Huong arrived in Hanoi by herself and babysat for Hanoi’s families to earn $10/month. Despite all these difficulties her passion for study never stopped. Huong registered for a night class at a Continuing Education Centre. She became a street kid, woke up at 2 am to cook sticky rice and sell on the street. Her life was full of challenges and dangers. There were many drug dealers where she lived and she slept on a small bed under the stairs.

Huong’s life turned to an amazing page when she was introduced to KOTO in 2006 to study and became a waitress and worked in Intercontinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel.

In 2012, Huong commenced an Associate Degree in Melbourne via a KOTO – Box Hill Institute scholarship. In 2013, Huong was honoured as Victoria’s International Student of the Year – Higher Education and the Premier’s Award- International Student of the Year with a $20,000 scholarship. Huong has contributed greatly to NGOs, universities and the Victorian Government while she held the role of International Student Ambassador and volunteered for many organisations.

Huong completed her Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Swinburne University of Technology (Melbourne, Australia), where she won the Swinburne Achievement Award. After graduating, Huong worked as a Business Analyst for Infrarisk Melbourne. Huong returned to Vietnam in early 2017 with a great passion to give back to KOTO, the organisation that changed her life and worked as Director of Partnerships and Engagement. In May 2017, she was selected as a Young Leader representing Vietnam in the Australia Vietnam Young Leader Dialogue. She took a break in 2019 and moved to the UK to work as a Client Service Manager.

Despite these numerous accolades, Huong always knew there was more she could do for those with a similar background to her. HopeBox was founded with a simple idea and mission; to help rural Vietnamese women who have experienced domestic violence obtain a fresh start.

Binh Rey

Binh Rey is a Principal, Trade Mark Attorney at Pointon Partners, Australia. She is a patron of HopeBox. She wants to assist in raising the profile of this charity as the work they do, brings “hope” to those domestic victims in Vietnam who have been brave enough to leave their abusive partners to dream of a brighter financially stable life. Binh’s mother had suffered domestic violence at the hands of an extended family member, however, there was support for her mother as they were living in Canada at that time. In Vietnam, there are no support services to assist women in that situation and therefore it’s nice to know that HopeBox is there in Vietnam to assist. Domestic violence is a terrible act, it affects all parties involved, it should be eliminated.

Binh Rey is foremost a marketer with over 20 years of industry experience in product, channel and business marketing. Binh Rey is known in the industry for her brand marketing and trademark knowledge, helping clients to understand how their brand is structured and how they can use their brand in the marketplace. Carrying together an overall corporate personality, especially for work-at-home women is very important. The way of carrying business attire along with beautiful women’s accessories can actually make a difference to your business in terms of clients and investors. As it reflects your inner beauty too along with the outer one.
Though in some workplaces they allow the proper dress code beyond which you are not allowed to wear anything, in that case also it is all up to you how you carry that particular dress code. So for that, we are trying to help you to get some ideas of basic women accessories.

Some Interesting Hacks For Women Accessories We Brought Are –

  1. Watch: Carrying a watch reflects your personality as a disciplined and responsible one. Especially if you are going for a job interview or meeting, this one accessory can appear to be your plus point as it makes you appear a reliable and organized person, because one who values his time values his money too.
  2. Handbag: A small and elegant handbag is a must to carry, as it not only helps you to enhance your look, rather it also provides you an ease in carrying  your daily essential items, which is very important in women’s life. So, get it one for you now itself  if not having.
  3. Earning and Necklace: A small sized round screw earring will be the right choice for the office place. Try to avoid the long ones as it isn’t much appreciated in the workplace. But you can definitely go with that in any office party or a get together. If you are not a person who much likes to wear earrings then a small, fine thin pearl necklace can work.
  4. A ring: Wearing a ring could be a symbol for some ladies and could be just an ornament for some. If you are using it as an ornament, then try not to wear those heavy stoned ones.
  5. A Small Brooch: Not in the mood to wear a necklace? No worries, just simply take your white or black shirt and a colorful small brooch. In my suggestion, put the brooch on the collar of your shirt, and see the difference. Just a small colorful piece can change your entire attire.
  6. The Belt: Adding a belt to your dress just to fit on those loose pants isn’t enough. You can go with some stylish belts with beautiful dresses too. Belt is supposed to highlight your waist apart from supporting pants, trousers, and skirts.
  7. Scarves: There are a number of ways to carry a scarf. My personal favorite one is just a simple knot across the collar works. Carrying a nice and colorful scarf can make your day wonderful. The best part of this is you don’t have to carry any fancy accessory with it. Simply use it either with your collar shirt or some top.

Since business attire is important while presenting yourself in front of others, it is equally important to add the correct accessories with it. So, all the ladies try these women’s accessories to your business attire and see the difference.
