2020 is a year to remember not only for Covid 19 but also because it created in people a sense of realisation of how important it actually is to take care of your body. We weren’t giving it the kind of time and respect it deserved but instead took advantage of its restorative powers and because it would bounce back so quick after every abuse, we just pulled it along till it broke down again.
However, 2020 changed that. People now have started valuing the body for what is it and I see conscious efforts made by those around me to heal their bodies.
A word however that keeps propping up in every discussion is “Immunity”. Now, what exactly is Immunity? Is Immunity that which prevents us from getting sick? Definitely no. Research has shown a body needs to fall sick every now and then to remain healthy. So, is it preventing getting any kind of bacterial or viral infection? Unfortunately, no again. Our body itself is made up of millions of bacteria and virus which aid it in its protection. So, what is Immunity? Well, immunity is living in synchronicity with your environment and giving your body the capability to respond in proportion to the stimulus.
What I mean by that is that we do not live in a sterile bubble. Our bodies are 24 * 7 surrounded by infections and a mask or a shield offer no protection to most of them. So, there is only one solution available – which is strengthening your immune system so that it can quickly eliminate the threat most often without you even realising it.
Do you know that your body daily produces a minimum of 8 cancer cells that can proliferate, but your immune system captures them well in time and annihilates them before they can go rogue? Similarly, based on everything you touch, everything you inhale, everything that may enter through any mucous membrane, your body is constantly fighting to protect you from everything.
But, the minute you start messing with your immunity, the minute you do things to destroy it’s very existence that’s when you fall prey to serious conditions and suffer.
It is now scientifically proven that an immune system is the very crux of good health and every disease from allergies to cancer all depend on your immune system to recover.
So, in short, what destroys it? A bad diet, improper lifestyle, poor sleeping habits, quick-relief medications, frequent use of antibiotics, immunosuppressive treatments (steroids), poor gut microbiome, sedentary habits, stress and negative emotions are all responsible for poor immunity.
A poorly treated condition will often make the symptom disappear temporarily but if the defect in the immune system isn’t treated the disease will manifest in another place in another way, but will never fully leave you till you address the underlying issue.
What makes your immunity better? A balanced diet, an active lifestyle, a positive frame of mind, a healthy gut and any treatment that doesn’t simply eliminate the symptom but also addresses the cause of the disease and treats the ailment more naturally.

Who said it will be smiles, laughter and charms?
Who said it will be romance, heartmate and only beautiful dance?
Who said it will be sheen, bright and great Chance?
Who said?
TELL THEM IT will be thorns, dark valleys and purgatory trance.
Tell THEM it will be a long walk, no rest and mock.
Tell THEM it’ll be heartbreak, remake and pain to partake.
TELL THEM to struggle to meander through the treacherous labyrinth.
Also forget not to Tell THEM, THAT there”s light at the end of the long dark night.
That the breakthrough is conceivable and achievable power in our might.
That our cracks through this drudgery are in our hands to repair.

Womenlines takes pleasure to share about Leadership Coach Sally Anderson as a guest influencer for Leadership at Womenlines panel from New Zealand. Sally has privately coached key influencers internationally: CEO’s/executive teams/C-Suite forums/entrepreneurs/celebrities/politicians/millionaires/billionaires over 20 years. This week Sally is sharing presentation tips for leaders-
I was asked last week by the amazing Eugene Moreau …..
Perhaps Sally you can shape a Post around ‘Presentations In The Boardroom – A Leaders Perspective. I know you have extensive experience in coaching high profile 1-1 leadership and the board level leadership communication is one of your ‘deep wells’.
Thanks for the suggestion Eugene…
Here’s my top 12 recommendations:-
(1) STOP PREPARING
- PREPARATION OVERKILL – There is a fine line between being ‘prepared’ and ‘over preparation’. An overly polished presentation lends to a disassociated delivery for there is more pre-occupation with following what’s been practiced than generating the delivery
(2) TELL THEM WHAT YOU INTEND TO HAPPEN
- SET CLEAR INTENTIONS – Articulating 3 clear intentions at the start of a presentation is not only wise but effective. Benchmarked clear intentions guarantees better outcomes and provides clear direction of the presentation
(3) OWN YOUR PRESENCE
- CLAIM YOUR SPACE – Do the work! Sort out your insecurities, inadequacies, issues with presenting or yourself, it’s a hard ask to expect respect at board level when you do not OWN who YOU are!
(4) WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE
- TOO HIGH PALETTE – In a lot of cases, there is a tendency to use language that is to ‘high level’…you can lose your audience when you don’t find the right level
- JARGON TABOO – Jargon in my books has its place so long as you provide the explanation/context, jargon otherwise detracts
(5) NEVER ASSUME
- KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE – When you are so close to your subject matter expertise never assume others know what you know regardless of the calibre of who you are presenting to
(6) SLOW DOWN
- SAVOUR THE OPPORTUNITY – Delivery at speed does not always land as impactful…like a good red, savour the experience, (still learning this one myself)
(7) WOW FACTOR
- POINT OF DIFFERENCE – From the minute you present you are communicating volumes – ensure your presentation is succinct, professional and bring the WOW Factor to stand out from the norm
(8) WATCH THE CURVEBALLS
- EXPECT INTERJECTION – Be prepared for interjection, embrace it, welcome it, enjoy it, but be on your game in knowing how to return serve
(9) ENERGY SETS THE SCENE
- ACKNOWLEDGE THE NON-LINEAR – Vibration, energy, resonance, all play a massive part in the effectiveness of your presentation, learn how to harness
(10) LIBERATE YOURSELF
- WHERE’S YOUR FOCUS? – To have freedom in your delivery ensure your focus is not on YOU, your attachment to seeking validation, acknowledgement, endorsement…for it’s not about you!
(11) EMOTIONAL CONNECTION
- STORY TELLING – The key to any memorable presentation at any level is the ability to ‘emotionally connect’ your audience to your message and intersperse with powerful story telling – yes even in the boardroom
(12) CO-CREATE
- LEVERAGE, LEVERAGE, LEVERAGE – Who you are in your human form is limited, who you are in your co-creative form is limitless – leverage your co-creative ability when you present as it’s your MAJOR X-factor
The boardroom for many can be intimidating. To provide impactful presentations regardless of the arena, starts and ends with your ‘mindset’. Cannot recommend highly enough the need to ‘do the work’!
If you feel ready to ‘do the work’, feel free to reach out and book in for a complimentary strategy session to explore what could be possible for you!Report this

Womenlines takes pleasure to welcome Prof K. K. Varma to share about his book ‘Life and Times of Unborn Kamla’, which is an intriguing book addressing issues of diminishing girls due to female feticide and infanticide in India. Please visit the links mentioned below to place your order for the book. Proceeds from the sale of books are contributed to support Girl Child Empowerment Program run by NGO Aarohan to which Professor Varma is associated as Consultant.
This Week Prof Varma is sharing about Aarohan – the Delhi based grassroots level organization engaged in the holistic development of children from childhood to livelihood. Aarohan executes this vision on the ground through continued educational, nutritional and livelihood interventions as extended to its adopted communities of urban-poor demographic.
Unique achievements of NGO Aarohan–
- Aarohan was awarded as one of the 51 as Most Impactful and Social Innovators World CSR Day on 18th February 2019
- Impacted more than 18000+ Student through different Aarohan Projects since 2005
- Recognition in the International Conference on Relevance of Policy Reforms on Development: Challenges before Emerging Economies held on 24th February 2011, at Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi and published the same in MAC MILAN.
- Recognition by ARNEC in their Journal (A conference held in Nepal in March 2018 by UNICEF, UNESCO and ARNEC) in their journal for Aarohan’s initiatives in early childhood, care and education and holistic support from childhood to livelihood.
In his own words, Prof Varma is sharing about an event which touched him deeply personally. Girls from Aarohan (www.aarohanngo.org) had been invited to participate in the televised live Program organised by the Govt. of India- where they got to interact with Mr Bachchan-
It was the Day!
We take pride in the fact that Aarohan was the only NGO to be contacted, selected, and invited by the organizers (government) to the mega event organized -on completion of two years of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government under the charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
The event was participated by various Ministers and policy makers from the establishment as well as people from different walks of life including stars from the silver screen to showcase government’s policies and welfare initiatives intended to benefit millions of countrymen.
Among the various social welfare programs initiated by the government- the one among those getting prime focus and rightly so-referred to the Scheme “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”– a national program launched in year 2014 by none other than the Prime Minister himself.
And very aptly, the very famous, iconic personality and the Star of the Millennium- Mr Amitabh Bachchan presented and anchored this segment which exclusively focused on interactions with a group of 25 girls from Aarohan- the Delhi-based NGO – a model grassroots social engineer.
No pre-written script was prescribed to the selected girls except being advised “to be self, stand straight and speak up”

Womenlines takes pleasure to welcome Manisha Kishore, MD, Awadh restaurant Singapore in Entrepreneur of the Month Show. It requires confidence, vision, faith, resilience and courage to follow one’s dream, especially as an entrepreneur. Manisha’s entrepreneurial journey is one such journey which is very inspiring. Listen to Manisha’s entrepreneurial journey in the interview above read her entrepreneurial story in her own words-

Having been a student and practitioner of Psychology for the past 20 years, I have been empowering people with intellectual disabilities for employment and inclusion in the community. An inherent love for people and entertaining, took me towards my second professional journey of life, with my foray into the Restaurant Industry. As a mother of two girls, I waited until they became independent before I embarked on fulfilling my dream to bring a completely unique and rare form of cuisine to Singapore Food Hub, which had not been introduced in South East Asia ever before.

With this ambition came thorough research and finally AWADH was born in January 2020! As an entrepreneur I have studied, learnt, evolved and refined our business strategies to cater to the needs of the local psyche. This is where my background as a Psychologist helped me tremendously.
I envision AWADH to work towards social causes and bring happiness to the lives of people of Singapore through arts, culture and good food.
“AWADH is a new concept of Indian regal cuisine in Singapore, a feast fit for a king. Awadhi cuisine is a unique synthesis of Hindu and Islamic heritage in its style of cooking.AWADH restaurant provides a complete sensory experience to tantalise your taste buds. Melt-in-the-mouth Galawat and Kakori Kababs, mildly spiced curries and kormas, accompanied with rich bread and biryanis, define (Awadhi) cuisine primarily.
