Womenlines takes pleasure to welcome Leadership Coach Sally Anderson as a guest influencer for Leadership at Womenlines panel. Sally has privately coached key influencers internationally: CEO’s/executive teams/C-Suite forums/entrepreneurs/celebrities/politicians/millionaires/billionaires over 20 years. This week Sally is sharing an amazing formula for achieving leadership results-

I was in dialogue yesterday with a thought leader I hugely respect and admire and I asked her what she would value insight into right now knowing I was writing an article today and she said ‘How do I sustain ‘unprecedented confidence’, as I forge ahead?

I loved the term ‘unprecedented confidence’. My reframe for this would be ‘tapping into your KNOWING’ so let me explain what I mean by this:-

I love using analogies to provide context and with today’s topic I will be leveraging off years of research into finding the ‘formula for results’ by way of using a planting analogy. Why do some people produce results and some not and to what degree? – here is the formula:-

Base Soil

Those who produce NOTHING fundamentally have no integrity with their word thereby no results are produced due to not BELIEVING it is possible

Next Layer of Soil

Those who produce SOMETHING fundamentally have some integrity with their word thereby some results are produced for they are willing to CONFRONT these beliefs

Top Soil

Those who produce EVERYTHING fundamentally have a HIGH degree of integrity with their word, ongoingly confront their beliefs, stay consistent with their activity thereby producing a HIGH degree of results for they are COMMITTED. They know that results starts and ends with belief and integrity with one’s word

That being said even when you are committed there are many times when the harvest is not visible. Just because it is not visible does not mean it is not coming. It is in these times one needs to move away from evidence-based belief to tapping into ones ‘innate knowing’.

This is why I love the planting analogy. You cannot plant a seed and stand over this seed and say… ‘Grow you bastard’, there is a gestation period where you water, manure, cultivate and during this time you are assured of the harvest, you just know you will reap return if you remain patient.

Too many times I see confidence waiver due to not respecting the gestation period.

The Chinese bamboo story applies hugely here. The story speaks of bamboo that has a long gestation period of sometimes up to 5-7 years with no visible results. Chinese bamboo farmers are experts is ‘knowing’ that the harvest will come if they sustain unprecedented confidence.

Knowing is not evidence based. Knowing is sourced through one’s intuition. Intuition is not a linear construct. As an evolved leader championing one’s vision, one needs to place more impetus into the non-linear aspect to stay the distance.

Top 5 recommendations:-

  1. TRUST that if you have stayed consistent with your activity (the watering, cultivating, manuring) piece then KNOW that you will indeed reap the harvest, you can’t but not!
  2. Miracles do not occur in the linear realm…they occur in the unknown non-linear realm, do not deny the magic by being hell bent on linear evidence
  3. RESPECT the gestation period and learn ‘patience’, you cannot force the outcome, JUST like you cannot force a plant to grow
  4. DO THE WORK…unearth the beliefs that you have that are usurping, sabotaging your results. Get the coaching, get the mentoring, get the healing, do the work!
  5. Tapping into your KNOWING allows you to ‘relax’, alleviates any form of monkey mind questioning or frustration

So in answer to my highly respected thought leader colleague, ‘How do you maintain unprecedented confidence as you forge ahead’, you trust the process that nature provides so eloquently.

If you are interested in building your intuitive muscle in the area of ‘ones knowing’, hook in for a 1-hour free coach consultation, it is a game-changer!

It is a pleasure to share about Senior Physiotherapist Shubhangi Gaikwad from the United Arab Emirates as an  Influencer for health and fitness at Womenlines panel. A Dedicated PT offering 10 years of acute-chronic care experience; Shubhngi is having a history of “exemplary” ratings on performance reviews. This month Shubhnagi is sharing key points to be mindful of while taking care of the elderly in the pandemic scenario-

Since the coronavirus has engraved the whole world, the most affected population around the world are the elderly. As soon as the data started coming in regarding the COVID-19, senior citizens are advised to stay at home to be safe.

As the world is opening gradually and adapting to live with the new normal. All of us has to adapt the safest way to live. Protection is better than cure. All of us need to follow all the guidelines and measures.

As far as the elderly population is a concern, its still not safe for them to go out. Hence, they need to readapt the to a normal routine within the home and stay happy and healthy.

Before pandemic, I had always encouraged the senior citizens to go for a walk, go out and socialize.

Now, the circumstances have been changed, its recommended to

ü Stay home.

ü Social distancing

With the new normal, maintaining physical and mental health is getting difficult for the world and especially, for the senior citizens.

With restricted movement elderly’s are not going for their walks, group classes are stopped, social clubs are closed, not catching up with friends in parks and café. This has affected not only the physical but mental health too.

Homebound lifestyle is increasing,

  • muscle-joint pain
  • joint stiffness
  • postural abnormalities
  • body weight
  • anxiety
  • fatigue level

Joint mobility, regular muscular activity and functional movement are especially important in daily routine to keep the optimal level of physical health. Whereas meeting friends, socializing, and exploring around improve mental health. Due to various restriction, most of these activities are restricted. It is time for helping our elderly’s more than ever to keep them safe and healthy at the same time.

Guideline to help senior citizen:

  1. Telemedicine: do not get stressed for a regular checkup. Go for telemedicine for your regular checkup, as recommended by your physician earlier.
  2. Consult physiotherapist/ exercise expert: get an online consultation with a physiotherapist and get a customized exercise plan according to your body need after doing a thorough assessment.

Avoid following random exercises by accessing different sites online. It is very important to understand that especially in old age, there is a preexisting condition, different physical capacity, random exercise plan affect adversely to various joint, muscles and physiological process. Hence do not hesitate to contact a physiotherapist for best-suited exercises for senior citizen.

  1. Make a schedule of the day: yes, make a schedule of the day, restrict sitting or lying down for long hours. Too much mobile usage leads to dryness of eyes, muscle tightness and spine stiffness, try to avoid it. Divide your day in three-part, morning hours – where you can give time to your breakfast, reading, prayers, etc, afternoon – lunch, pending work, exploring your old stuff, evening – tea time, snacks with family, connect with friends online, activities etc
  2. Engage in activities – try to indulge yourself in activities you like, your hobbies, activity with a family member.
  3. Connect with friends online: if you are missing your routine of meeting friends, then the best way is to do online meeting during the time you use to go out to meet them on normal days.

Do share these guidelines with the people around you and let’s generate hope, energy and positivity. The physical and mental health of senior citizens can be maintained being at home too.

It is a pleasure to welcome Suzanne Alfandari, Motivational Interviewing Trainer, an expert in EFT tapping training, and Licensed Therapist from California as a guest contributor at Womenlines Panel. This month Suzanne is recommending everybody to read this article (first published by Shape magazine and written by Megan Falk ), a very informative article on how to do effective EFT Tapping training-

The therapeutic tool combines elements from ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology, but can tapping your fingertips on your head and torso really relieve stress and anxiety?

Overwhelming, can’t-think-straight stress is never just in your mind—there are plenty of physical effects too. Your thoughts might race and jumble, it might be painful to come to a decision, and you might not even be able to focus on the problem at hand. But as your brain tells your body to go into fight-or-flight mode, you’ll also begin to feel uncomfortable (and sometimes unwanted) physical sensations. Your pulse quickens. You breathe faster. Your muscles tense. Your hands get a little sweaty. (Related: 10 Weird Ways Your Body Reacts to Stress)

If an upcoming job interview or financial uncertainty due to the COVID-19 crisis suddenly brings about these not-so-helpful physiological symptoms, how can you get your body and mind back on the right track? You might consider trying EFT Tapping.

What Is EFT Tapping, Exactly?

Developed in 1995 by Gary Craig, EFT tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques, is a self-help therapeutic technique that combines elements from ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. The stress-relief tool is often usedto ease common conditions like anxiety and depression, as well as more severe mental health concerns like post-traumatic stress disorder, both in the home and clinical settings.

Here’s how it works: When you begin to feel overwhelming physical symptoms of emotional distress, like a pounding heart, stomach pain, or shakiness, EFT tapping can help alleviate these physical symptoms so you can better address the larger problem at hand.

In a typical EFT tapping session, you use your fingertips to lightly tap on nine specific acupressure points on the body, starting with the “karate chop” point (the outer edge of the hand, just below the pinky) on one hand.Using two to four fingers from the opposite hand, you tap this spot five to seven times. Then, on the same side of the body, you do the same number of taps on the start of the eyebrow; the temple; the bone beneath the eye; the area between the nose and upper lip; the crease of the chin; the area one inch below the start of the collarbone; the area four inches beneath the armpit; and, finally, the crown of the head. Throughout the entire tapping sequence, you keep focusing on the worry, anxiety, stressful situation, unresolved problem, or thing that’s causing the unwanted physical sensations you are feeling in the moment.

“This tapping sends a calming signal to your brain, letting it know that it’s safe for you to relax,” says Jessica Ortner, co-founder of The Tapping Solution, a website and app that provides EFT tapping guides. “If your body feels more relaxed while you’re thinking about a stressful thought, you don’t feel like you’re being hijacked by that emotion.”

This focus on the emotion or stressor that’s causing that tightness in your chest or knot in your stomach—and accepting it—is the key difference between EFT tapping and acupressure or acupuncture (aside from the needles, of course), says Suzanne D. Alfandari, M.S., L.M.F.T., a certified Expert EFT Trainer and Practitioner. While you solely focus on easing the unwanted physical sensations in these therapeutic practices, EFT tapping encourages you to be honest with yourself and your feelings, which helps you work through the mental challenges causing the physical reactions in the first place.

At the beginning of each tapping session, you say a “set-up statement”that acknowledges the emotions you’re feeling or the problem you want to deal with, then state an affirmation. (For example, ‘Even though I’m anxious about my upcoming deadline, I deeply and completely accept myself.’) As you tap through the sequence, you repeat reminders of the issue (like ‘my anxiety’ or ‘my deadline’) to stay focused.

“That thought is creating a physical reaction,” says Ortner. “But when you’re thinking that thought while tapping, you’re calming your body and rewiring your body’s reaction to it.” If you’re able to think about something scary or overwhelming but feel physically calm, you’ll have an easier time navigating the situation, she adds.

Does EFT Tapping Actually Work?

First, a quick lesson on acupressure points. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupressure points are the physical locations where Qi—or “life force energy” in the body—can be accessed, and pressing on these spots can help release blocked or congested Qi. While the scientific explanation as to why stimulating these points can affect your physical and mental health is murky, some research has suggested a close relationship between these points and the nervous system and blood vessels.Other studies have found that stimulated acupressure points may release biomolecules that relieve pain or alter nerve activity. (Related: Tips On How to Turn Your Stress Into Positive Energy)

Despite this lack of clarity on the exact mechanisms at play, more than 100 studies published in peer-reviewed journals have been conducted on EFT tapping, with the majority noting its efficacy—something Ortner has experienced first hand.

A few months after Ortner first learned the EFT tapping sequence, she was going through a heart-wrenching breakup that made it feel like sadness was washing over her entire body, she explains. Ortner says she didn’t remember all of the points but began tapping those she knew and allowing herself to be present with her feelings. Almost immediately, she says she felt her whole body calm down. “I was like, ‘Wow, there’s something to this because I’m not even doing it perfectly. Just with using half the points, I’m feeling like I can finally relax my body,’” says Ortner. “That’s what I love about it—it’s a very forgiving process.”

Aside from relationship woes and daily stressors, research has shown EFT tapping to be effective for treating mental health concerns like anxiety. In a five-and-a-half-year study of 5,000 patients seeking anxiety treatment, researchers found that 90 percent of patients who received EFT tapping therapy (in which a professional guides you through the sequence)had reduced anxiety levels, and 76 percent had complete relief of symptoms. For those who underwent cognitive behavioral therapy, these percentages dropped to 63 percent and 51 percent, respectively. What’s more, studies have shown EFT tapping to be effective for anxiety, pain, and cravings when the practice was self-applied: Health care workers who practiced EFT tapping were found to have decreased ratings of pain, emotional distress, and cravings just two hours after tapping.

Research suggests that EFT tapping may benefit those who suffer from depression, too: A meta-analysis of 20 studies showed that EFT tapping was more effective in treating depression than diaphragmatic breathing and supportive interviews, and a study on 59 veterans who had been treated for PTSD found a significant reduction in depressive symptoms after six 1-hour EFT sessions.

One of the most interesting draws of EFT tapping, though, is its potential to work in just one session. The Tapping Solution’s nine-minute Releasing Anxiety guide has been played more than 260,000 times, and users have reported an average 41 percent decrease in distress, says Ortner. Similarly, the company’s 10-minute Quiet My Racing Mind guide, which has been played 119,000 times, has shown an average 49 percent decrease in symptoms of distress or anxiety, she adds. Research backs up tapping’s quick results in clinical settings, too. In that 5,000-patient study on anxiety, participants’ anxiety levels dropped in just three EFT tapping sessions, compared to 15 sessions for those who received cognitive behavioral therapy. (Related: The Best Therapy and Mental Health Apps)

“If the tapping points are being used correctly—if the person is getting to the core of what they’re anxious feelings are about—yes, there could absolutely be relief in 10 minutes,” says Alfandari. “If there is something that’s been going on for a long time and there are multiple layers, it’s possible it can be gone in 10 minutes, but more likely it will take longer than that.”

So, Should You Try EFT Tapping?

To Ortner, EFT tapping is a simple tool to bring the mind back “online” and ease anxiety so you can figure out what exactly you need, whether it be a break from work or an appointment with a therapist. Plus, EFT tapping is incredibly safe—the worst thing that could happen is you don’t notice a difference in your anxiety or stress levels, she adds.

While online scripts and apps make EFT tapping easy and accessible, they might not be specific enough for your situation, notes Alfandari. In those instances, a certified EFT Expert Practitioner might be able to help you get the results you’re looking for, she says. You can find an expert, including Alfandari, on The Tapping Solution’s online practitioner directory or through EFT International’s directory, which allows you to sort practitioners by specialty. And if you feel like you may have an underlying mental health issue or are overwhelmed with the emotions you’re feeling, both Ortner and Alfandari say it’s important to seek additional professional help.

“In the world we live in right now, we need to investigate anything that can help the stress and the overwhelmed emotion that we’re feeling,” says Ortner. “Just investigate and see whether it’s a fit for you because you really have nothing to lose.”

Womenlines welcomes Dr Tazeen Siddiqui as a guest contributor at Womenlines. She is the Managing Director at Mansha Educational Society, India. This month Dr Tazeen is sharing an interesting article about how ablution can purify soul-

When you go for a bath, the first thought that comes to your mind to be clean and tidy washing off the dirt and adding fragrance and hygiene for your body and skin, Ablution is not just the process confined to cleaning your body, but also purifies your soul as the thoughts of cleanliness, hygiene encourages positivity and energize your day to move ahead with great happiness and joy, you not only clean your body but your soul too, that is purified embracing the positivity of Energy and happiness.

I feel that when you are going to have a bath just have 5 minutes prior to bathe, to yourself believing that I am going to wash off all the worries, fear and anxieties with the dirt so that I can come out with fresh energized body, and heart.

The coolness that you witness after a bath having a purified soul gives you a feeling of calmness at heart and mind.

Before prayers, we perform wazu ablution of hands, face neck and feet and then stand before God for prayers with the cleaned body; and positivity of connecting to god that purifies our thoughts and soul.

It’s important to have a bath every Morning to purify your body and soul to start your day with happiness and calmness at heart …

Book a free consultation with Dr Charuta Deshpande at Yafot Wellness to have an understanding of how homoeopathic way of treatment can be helpful to you. As an Influencer at Womenlines panel, Dr Charuta is sharing an insightful article on how to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) With Homeopathy-

“Doctors may be dismissive of it but, for the sufferer, it is a condition causing untold suffering, worry and inconvenience” – Janet Gray, Medical GP for over 20 years.

One of the ailments most seen by first-contact doctors and general practitioners is a stomach ache. It is the job of the consulting doctor to determine between the patients who may have a serious disease, for example, stomach ulcers, diverticulitis, or, even worse, bowel cancer, from those who “simply” have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

There are no ways to test for IBS – diagnosis is made by excluding other diseases, which probably explains why doctors may have a rather dismissive attitude to it. The patient may be told, “All your tests and examinations have come back normal – it’s only IBS.”

In actual fact, from the sufferer’s point of view, it is a condition causing untold suffering, worry and inconvenience.

What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?

IBS is a very common, debilitating condition, affecting as many as 20 per cent of the population, with more females suffering than males. It is concentrated in the 20 to 40 year age group, but can occur at all ages.

Causing not only intense symptoms (see symptoms below), IBS also has a great impact on functionality, also resulting in shame and embarrassment. Rather than being classified as a pathological disease, IBS is assumed to be due to a manifestation of a disordered central nervous system(psyche) and enteric nervous system (neurology of gastric tract).

The bowel may also react to emotional states, such as anger or anxiety. Such “gut reactions” appear to be especially likely in those who find it difficult to share their feelings with others, expressing mental distress through physical symptoms.

Food sensitivities or intolerances can cause IBS symptoms (as opposed to a true food allergy which occurs rapidly after ingesting very small quantities of the food concerned, for example, peanuts or shellfish). Abnormal fermentation in the colon, following antibiotic usage and candidal colonisation of the bowel, can also cause IBS symptoms.

Homoeopathy yields highly effective treatment results as it acts by simulating both the central and enteric nervous systems, tackling both aspects of the problem.

If you believe you may be suffering from IBS, consult us for highly effective & safe treatment. Call or WhatsApp us at +65-9145-9050 today for an appointment.Yafot Wellness also offers teleconsultations for clients.
