Womenlines takes pleasure to welcome Ikigai Coach and Speaker MS. SUCHI from Singapore as a guest contributor in the healthy recipes segment of Womenlines. MS. SUCHI is a marathon runner who promotes plant-based food. She is keeping all the chronic illnesses away by thriving on plant-based food. This week she is sharing her learning (https://www.healthifyme.com/blog/7-reasons-why-jowar-sorghum-is-good-for-your-health/about) why one should add Sorghum (Jowar) to one’s diet

Healthy Recipies

Sorghum is Gluten-free

Gluten is a protein component found in wheat and barley-based foods, and is believed to cause digestive problems such as bloating, pain and stomach cramps.
Jowar, a gluten-free whole grain

It is rich in Fiber

Compared to other cereal grains like barley or rice, Jowar contains a much higher concentration of fibre. A single serving contains more than 12 grams, which is more than the recommended daily intake of 48%.

A high fiber diet lowers risk of obesity, stroke, high blood pressure, cardiac disease, diabetes and digestive problems.

It controls Blood Sugar Levels

Jowar, a complex carbohydrate, is digested slowly, prompting a more gradual rise in blood sugar. That’s why it’s a great diet choice for diabetics.

It contains High Protein

One cup of jowar has 22 grams of protein, which supplies the body with energy as well as aids in cell regeneration.

It is Full of Iron

Jowar contains 8.45 milligrams of iron in every cup. Since the iron in jowar is non-heme (difficult to absorb), pairing it with meat or a source of Vitamin C will give you maximum benefit.

It is good for Bone Health

Because it contains high levels of magnesium, jowar helps maintain calcium levels in the body (magnesium increases calcium absorption).

Packed with Vitamins, Minerals and Micronutrients

It contains B vitamins, which help the body build new tissues and cells, as well as potassium and phosphorous.

It helps in Weight Loss

Jowar has a much higher concentration of dietary fiber, when compared to other cereal grains. A single serving contains more than 12 grams, contributing to 48% of the daily recommended fiber intake.

This high fiber content ensures higher satiety levels, leading to lower consumption by keeping hunger pangs at bay.

Therefore, the fibre content in Jowar reduces your appetite, making it the ideal whole grain option for weight loss.

It works well for people with constipation and boosts their Digestive System

The high dietary fiber content in jowar also helps improve digestion. The fiber is a bulking agent that helps stool pass smoothly through the digestive tract.
The whole grain helps improve digestive health and is useful in treating conditions like diarrhea, bloating, stomach ache and constipation.

It improves Heart Health

The abundance of fiber in it helps lower LDL (or bad cholesterol) levels in the body, thus reducing the risk of heart attack.
The cholesterol lowering properties of jowar also reduce the chances of hindered blood flow, arteriosclerosis and plaque formation.
The whole grain also contains antioxidants, apart from nutrients like magnesium, iron, and vitamins B and E.

It improves Energy Levels

Sorghum contains high amounts of niacin (or Vitamin B3). The B vitamin is integral in transforming food into energy usable by the body. Niacin ensures that the energy levels in the body are consistent through the day rather than observing sudden spikes of energy. A rich source of niacin, a single serving of jowar accounts for 28% of the recommended daily intake.

It boosts Circulation

Iron and copper are two important minerals found in Jowar. These minerals come together to play a key role in improving the body’s blood circulation.
Iron is crucial to the development of red blood cells in the body, while copper helps enhance the absorption of iron in the body. Thus, consuming the grain helps improve the development of red blood cells, and improves the overall circulation of blood in the body, while also reducing the chances of anaemia.

A single serving of jowar can give you 58% of your daily recommended intake of copper.

I add Sorghum to healthy paratha which I make ,what about you?

In this article Leadership Coach, Sally Anderson is sharing the real secret that why slow progress is considered to be progress! Sally has privately coached key influencers internationally: CEO’s/executive teams/C-Suite forums/entrepreneurs/celebrities/politicians/millionaires/billionaires over 20 years. Womenlines is promoting female leadership across the globe and this article is especially to motivate female leaders.

I love this image. My message today is short and sweet because sometimes powerful messages do not need elaborate explanation.

Where ever you are at on your journey personally and professionally is EXACTLY where you need to be with reference to what it is you are here learning at this time!

Wanting to be somewhere else other than where you are at sets you up to be dissatisfied with your life as it is now!

Living in the dynamic of ‘this isn’t it yet, there is somewhere else to get and when I get there it will be better than here is the insane world we as humans create.

The concept of ‘being here now, as it is, being grateful for ‘what is, is where life is truly lived.

I believe the biggest addiction on this planet is ‘dissatisfaction’. Those who have yet to attain what they want are dissatisfied. Those who have everything, yes even these people, they too are dissatisfied – it’s rife in our society globally.

Some quit due to slow progress never grasping the fact that….slow progress is progress! So long as you know what you want, are taking action towards that aim, know that ‘slow progress is still progress, and you will achieve your end game but folks in the meantime ensure you enjoy the journey to your interpretation of ‘there’. When I ask people ‘is this it yet’? The standard response is NO! They then say – I am getting there! Where I ask is that place called ‘there? AND why do you perceive that it is better than here!

Here is where life is to be lived, there is only the NOW moment but you have to be here to enjoy it! Satisfaction does not lie in some future destination, satisfaction is being grateful for ‘what is. STOP the frustration, the impatience, the distractions, the resignation/resentment for what is yet to manifest…its always in spirits time, not yours!

Womenlines takes pleasure to share powerful knowledge about EFT Tapping from the expert Suzanne Alfandri, from the USA. In the video above Suzaane has shared the right way of EFT Tapping to get anxiety relief from COVID!

The emotional freedom technique (EFT) is an alternative way to reduce physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also known as tapping or psychological acupressure. This technique emphasizes that tapping the body can create a balance in your energy system and treat pain.

What is EFT Tapping?

EFT tapping employs the use of patients tapping their fingers on 10 acupuncture meridian points while repeating specific statements suggested by the therapist from the information the client provides. These procedures eliminate negative beliefs and increase physical health and mental well being.

According to a 2012 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, up to 80% of visits to primary care doctors are related to stress. Clinical trials have shown that EFT removes emotional trauma and accelerates the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Over 100 clinical trials published in peer reviewed medical and psychology journals clearly demonstrate that EFT is effective for:

• phobias
• anxiety
• depression
• physical and emotional pain
• posttraumatic stress disorders (e.g. PTSD)

Additionally, EFT treatment helps people improve their business, athletic and artistic performances.

Studies can be found at EFTUniverse.com

Womenlines takes pleasure to welcome guest contributor  Vijayalakshmi Veluchamy, founder, Public speaking mentor @ Jump Out Kids – a venture in building a confident next generation. She is also a Senior Recruitment Consultant by profession. This month Vijaya is sharing insights  about how to raise confident kids?

It’s so truly quoted that “Your confidence introduces you before you even speak”.

Such is the aura and vibration that self-confidence creates around you.

It’s the most beautiful attribute a child can carry all along their life, we as parents can help our children develop and boost their self-confidence from a very early age through many simple and effective ways.

How to build Confidence in kids?

Be their model:

Children learn through seeing, so let them genuinely see you positively handle situations, problems and people.

At times as parents when you are low on your own self-confidence, nervous or anxious, do openly confront it to the kids and let them know how you plan to face it positively with courage. These insights acknowledge them that it’s ok to have negative, low feelings but we try to come out of it positively. This instils self-confidence in kids

Praise them at the right moment in the right way:

Daily over doses of phrases like “ Good Job”, “Well Done”, “Very Good” does no good for your child. Genuine, specific praise at the right moment describing their exact act is the most effective way of praising a child.

For Example:

“I appreciate the way you helped your friend when he got hurt, that’s so kind of you”

This is the right way to praise a child rather than just saying “Good Job”.

This signals the child to continue to do the act that he was praised for, inculcating many such good behaviors with the right praise develops their confidence.

Age appropriate decisions, opinions, advice:

It’s not always true that we as parents have the best solutions for all situations, consider asking the kids for advice, opinions and suggestions where possible, make them feel important ,implement their ideas, solutions if it is feasible.

This gives them the confidence that they can positively contribute to make a change, resolve an issue or help a person. Most importantly the feeling that their words, actions, ideas, thoughts matter, nurtures their self-confidence manyfold.

New Experiences:

Giving them the time and opportunity to explore various skills and life experiences is the responsibility of the parent. This helps them to understand their strengths, inner passion and explore their area of interest. Each time they attempt to learn a new skill, they try to overcome their initial fear, anxiety and move ahead in acquiring the skill and gradually excelling in the skill. This actually builds their confidence.

Unconditional Love:

Your unconditional love is the base on which their confidence is built. Make it very clear that you love them the way they are, no matter what they can do or can not do. The way we see our children has a great impact on the way they see themselves.

Appreciate their efforts no matter what the results turns out to be, encourage them, be their biggest support, avoid unwanted comparisons, criticisms and shaming, Instead load their life with positive thoughts, love, acceptance, hugs, high fives, back pats and watch the little one gradually grow into a confident adult.

Womenlines takes pleasure to share about Ms Ketki Vinayachandra as an ‘Influencer of Health’ at the Womenlines panel. In this video, Ketki is sharing great insights about how you can boost your immunity through your gut care! Ketki is sharing articles and videos related to excellence in health through Naturopathy at Womenlines. Ketki is a trained Naturopath and she is quite passionate about creating awareness about Naturopathy across the world.

How to Boost Your Immunity Through Your Gut

In the video above Ketki Naturopath is sharing details about-

  1. Where is your immunity located
  2. The Elimination Channels
  3. Why is gut ecology so important

Are you aware that 70% of your immune system is in your gut? Once you start being mindful about what food you are consuming, what impact it makes in your body then you can make your body stronger as your immune system will be working better. The first step comes is to make sure that the digestive system is working properly.

During the digestion, food is broken into small parts, which is subsequently worked upon in the gut where nutrients are absorbed thus removing waste from the body and also helping different body parts function properly. If there is extra growth of bad bacteria in the gut then the immune system will get confused and will start attacking one’s own cells and thus will make the person ill. Probiotics play a major role in making the gut healthy.

Ketki Vinayachandra

“As a Naturopathic health practitioner, I strongly believe that we need to invest wisely in our health. The everyday choices we make in terms of our lifestyle and how we treat our body can either create healing or disease. While ageing is inevitable, diseases are not.”
