Ladies, Consider A Career In Trucking

I am a woman, hear me roar – right?

As women, generations of us have been taught that we shouldn’t aim too high, reach too far, hope for too much. Our grandmothers and our great grandmothers were those who set the wheels in motion for change, to allow us to be heard, to vote. Over 100 years later, we’re still here making changes and spinning those wheels so that our granddaughters and great-granddaughters can benefit from our choices.

One of the ways that we are making waves is in a range of industries and careers, and often, women are excluded from some of those. Women aren’t seen as the norm in trade work, and they’re certainly not seen as the norm in the trucking world – so why don’t we change that? Why don’t we consider careers behind the giant wheels of a truck? It’s one way to change things. It’s one way to learn the industry so that you can learn to lead it yourself. You can start small and then grow into owning your own trucking company. You can learn about the trucks you’d need to keep going, and then about the right gas oil suppliers to keep those trucks moving on the road. The trucking industry is experiencing huge issues with the number of truck drivers there are out there – so why not step up and be one of them?

Historically, men have been at the forefront of the workforce in trucking. In fact, they account for 90% of drivers and yet women are just as dependable as men in trucking. Women are just as safe on the road, and we’ve got some of the best reasons you should go for it.

  1. There is a huge demand for female truck drivers. Female truckers are – thankfully – growing in their numbers and there are so many opportunities for women of all backgrounds to come forward and join an industry in need. There are countless opportunities for women to find a fulfilling career and it even has room for growth.
  2. It’s an evolving industry. There are so many positive changes happening in the trucking industry right now. The advancements in trucking technology and the marketplace itself all means more change, and trucking companies are now offering more support and better, more diverse options for their drivers to have a healthy work/life balance. Women who want to have a family and a career in the same way that men can without question are more able to in the trucking world.
  3. Women are often better drivers. Let’s make a point here that there are no gender gaps in driving, but statistically? Female drivers are often more cautious and they receive fewer citations and have fewer accidents.

There really is no doubt that women have a place in the trucking industry. The time is now for a change if that’s what you’re looking for and if you want competitive salaries and excellent benefits, trucking could be the exact option that you need for your next move.
